TRNC/Turkish Sim Card

My family and i are travelling to the Lapta in a couple of weeks for a holiday and would like to use our mobile phones. Is it easy to obtain and use a local SIM card and what is the cost?

I got a TelSim sim card out here from there shop in the Girne high street, it cost 17ytl and came with 100 credits.

I also have a UK 02 mobile and that works out here fine also.

You need to unblock your mobil phone before you can use Telsim or Turkcell SIM card. Only paid £10 to my local phoneshop and all done now i have Turkcell pay as u go everytime I go to TRNC just top up and use it easy and cheap

Thanks for the replies VRs-Dude and Cypriot. Telsim or Turkcell. My mobile is already unlocked. Do you just replace the sim card and away you go? I know in spain there are instructions to follow and are often in Spanish.

yes there is a form you need to fill up but dont worry they are very helpfull just tell the guy at the phone shop to set up for you once its done replace the sim in and away u go

We bought a turkcell sim card, staff in shop were really helpful and put it in my phone and registered it. Now i just swop sim cards on the flight there or back. Texting to UK only uses 3 credits and you get 100 credits when you buy the sim card. When i need to buy credit, staff always do that for me too!



i always find a smilke and 'Lutfen' goes a long way!!
