Well maybe not the world, but definately the best in Northern Cyprus! Nosheen's Indian restaurant has just been taken over by a very nice, mild mannered, family man who owns an indian restaurant in Scotland where he has been for 20 years. Although the official opening isn't until Tuesday, we went last night and it has to be THE BEST Indian meal I have had since I moved here many years ago. Infact, I have to say that, it was probably one of the best I have EVER. The owner said the chef has been with him for many years at his UK restaurant and you can tell that this is a master of his trade. If you love Indian food then you will be doing yourself an injustice by not checking this out - my mouth is watering at the thought of it!! Good things deserved to be shouted about - so do yourself a BIG favour and "GET YOUR ARS*S DOWN TO NOSHEEN's"""! Enjoy... you wont be disapointed!!

St George After reading your post about Nosheen Restaurant we thought we would give it a try. Wow!!! we were not dissapointed, it was fantastic. Although the official opening is this coming Tuesday it is running wonderfully. The owner Tariq is a very pleasant gentleman. I had a Chicken Passander. Best I have tasted. I have a feeling this is going to be a very popular Restaurant.

maningi pusa, The Levant in Karmi had an Oktoberfest last week with specially-imported German sausages (Bratwurst & weisswurst) with sauerkraut and all the trimmings. It was a great hit and we are thinking of doing it on a monthly basis. We’ll keep you informed. Ken

Paddywack, i dont think we came to the TRNC looking for German..etc food, and i personally love Cypriot food, and will often go for a great meze at Cenaps, or Iskende at Fast Food etc etc, BUT, I live here full time, have done for many many years and sometimes fancy an Indian or Italian! I'm sure not everyone that lives in England has pie and mash everynight? And, back to the above, I've also been to Nosheens, and totally agree that it is fantastic. Nice people, great food and good prices. Really wish them all the success they deserve.

RE msg 10, Levant: I wonder why a restaurant owner, like Ken Nikolai of "Levant" in Karaman, opted to hide his email address on this site. Why do I wonder? Because I want to send him an email...

Don't get me wrong I love all types of food - Like PeppaPig I have lived her a long time and I love Cypriot food. But there is nothing wrong with liking other foods as well. I do enjoy a good Indian, and Nosheens is as good as I've tasted anywhere. Hope you all enjoy it as me... and Peppa and Mindy!!! ;o)

I gave your restaurant very very good reviews, and I know for a fact that many people went on my advice, I actually spoke with several , The last time we went our food was far from right. Also many other people stated the same. But we paid the bill, and I came next day to chat with you about this, I was promised you would contact me and sort this out, It has now been 6 months. I am still waiting, I have had approx 5 complaints at my Restaurant in the UK in 15 years, We have always nipped them in the bud instantly. I was told at the time that your chef had been away for 2 weeks, I hope now that you have sorted things , and I wish you good luck for the future, I am very sorry to anyone who had a wasted trip on my advice. But when we went at first it was Top Notch.

It was pretty good for us, too, when we were in TRNC last year. But - oriental/Indian restaurant food is only as good as its top chef/s. Their success depends utterly on these masters and if they're away on their well-earned hols (for example), standards inevitably slump. Keeping those top-notch culinary wizards for more than 12-18 months is the restaurant owner's biggest headache - unless of course he's one and the same guy!

Of course what would be really sad is someone who was in lets say.............Vietnam who can not stop posting on a North Cyprus board because he is so lonely and desperate maybe? but can not stop slagging off all things North Cyprus, that would be so sad as to be beyond belief! maybe that person would be a bit inadequate and not be having a life in lets say Vietnam?

Unless Nosheen has changed hands, then it is not owned by the same group, I think you will find entirley seperate. If it has changed ownership then I stand corrected.

We ate there a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the food, having been to, and enjoyed other places like Al shaeen courtyard, punjab etc, but the Nosheen was a class apart. the Naan bread was the best we have had in TRNC. don't you all rush there or there may not be a table for the missus and me.

I started this thread back in October 2009 and since then I must have been to Nosheens at least 20 times - I am yet to have a bad meal!!!! Tariq the owner is an extremely nice guy as are all the staff - always friendly and polite with excellent service. We recently tried one of the other Indian restaurants just to see if they had improved and it was actually worse than we remember. Nosheens is the best by a million miles. It says something about the other Indian restaurants when their busiest day is serving Sunday Roast!!! Tariq is moving down the road to another premisses, but still in Alsancak and in an older building that he is renovating, and he should be open there by the end of March all going well. Good luck to him and I can't wait to see the new restaurant. G

I had a wonderful Take-Away from Nosheens but it was a little bit short on the meat side so I went back the following day and told them. Further take-aways from them have been wonderful with plenty of meat included. The curry sauce is sooooo tasty.

I tried Nosheen this week and must say after all the 'hype' that has been on here I was a little disappointed. The meal was ok, there was not anything wrong with it at all, and the naan bread was very nice too. Prices are a little on the expensive side, compared to the competition, and on my one visit is not really justified. This is not a complaint by any means just a balance to some of the comments that have been posted on here. I certainly cannot see what all the so very positive comments are based upon. A good meal but no better than some of the other places, which are far more reasonable in price. You pay your money and you take your choice!
