Hi I am posting this message for a friend who is having problems logging on. He wants to know if he takes over a flatscreen TV with Freeview and pays to connect to the satellite on our roof which is supplied by Digiturk will he be able to pick up any signals without going into Digiturk's office to sign up to a package? Has anyone else done this? Thank you!

hi bhw im sure you are directing that question to me but you are embrassed to ask me directly ahh bless!!!!!!!! lol there is no chance of you receiving digiturk thru a freeview intregrated tv because digiturk is a pay tv package which works with a card that is scrambled using cyptoworks scrambling system and the only way of recieving this is with a compatable reciever or a digiturk box supplied by digiturk and there are no freeview channels on the digiturk satellite so to cut a long story short a trip down to the digiturk office is a must hope this helps ukturk

FREE VIEW IN NORTH CYPRUS! are you jokeing ? any tv took over to north cyprus with built in free view ( DVB) STANDS FOR DIGITAL VIDEO BROADCAST will not not pick up any off air transmissions outside the uk. the only way you will get any tv pictures is via digiturk , showtime or sky set top box and useing the tv scarts to connect it. forget the aerial input thats a no no regards andrew

captain you probabley picked up a radio station from the south that why you lost it when you went over the mountain if you do go for a sattelite and get a hotbird and turksat system you get bbc world news aswell as bbc prime loads of sports channels but not in english but who cares when you are watching sport, you can also get live football on fox tv but this is in turkish and also you can get live football scores on kibris genc tv and also get loads of radio channels on this too bjrice unless you are in the army you wont be able to get forces tv because this is coded and locked and you need a card to unlock this which is only avaiable to the army which is a shame because its on a sattelite that we can all recieve with a 90cm dish and its got bbc, itv, sky sports and loads more never mind regards ukturk

Hi Ukturk, you seem to have your finger on the button with the TV/sat set ups. I have two dishes one picks up Hotbird the other Cirrus, have lots of channels of which most are scrambled/ blocked, anyway of getting them unblocked? Most of the 1250 channels that ar'nt blocked are porn but I can get BBC World, don't presently pay for any servive( being a poor lad from the North of England), what are your recommendations apart from getting my hand in my long pockets. ps your input to the forum is a credit to you, top man D.N

hi dixie not sure why you got one of the dishes pointed at sirus because all you can get on that is russian tv and of course 2 hardcore porn channels, the first thing you do is get the dish moved from sirus to either nilesat at 7 degrees west on this you will get mtv - mbc2 (24hour films) - mbc4 (general programs) mbc action (films & general) - dubai one tv (american sitcoms) - fox movies - bbc world and euronews, or have the dish turned to turksat which has cnbce (american programs) - e2 (has a lot of british programs aswell american) - tnt (films and sitcoms) - buisness channel (at night films) - mtv - bbc world aswell as fox tv which has premire league games and tv8 which has all fa cup and league cup games - star tv which has champions league games all these are in turkish thou ok now on to hotbird there is a way you can open the channels on hotbird but this is down to the reciever before any box would have unlocked these channels but now the only receiver that does this is Next the best model is the ye2000 fta with usb port this unlocks four bbc channels (spin off bbc1) loads of french movie channels that you change the audio to english, tcm - loads of music channels, and eurosport in english aswell as loads of sport channels so first of all find out the name of your box if its any kind of next box it will be able to open these channels and i will be able to help you on this, if not then go out and get one of these boxes ye2000fta with usb the cost is around 170ytl and dont forget to get someone out and change the postion of on eof the dishes to nilesat or turksat from sirus unless you want to keep the russian channels or the two porn channels on their hope this help regards ukturk

hi dixie no probs, i know for a fact that the amstrad silverline wont unlock these channels, so you will have to buy this next box if you cant afford to shell out for a new box then what you do is just get the dishes turned the for sirus to nilsat and maybe the hotbird one get that turned to turksat that way you will have quite a few english channels aswell as sports and music and none of these are coded they are free to air good luck regards ukturk

Ukturk, Your reply 19 suggests Turksat is a better bet than Hotbird for FTA programs. Could you confirm this. I have a Comag box in Girne to pickup BBC World and Euronews when we stay on our apartment. Only there for 4 months or so each year so not worth Digiturk. I have checked Turksat 1C/2A at 42E on http://www.lyngsat.com and can't see BBC World listed. Can you confirm this is on Turksat as cnbce/e2/starTV etc for sport sounds better than Hotbird, but would still want to get BBC World. Thanks

hi essex for fta programs turksat is much better than hotbird, hotbird has only got bbc world, euronews and a few others not a worthy sat if you cant get the coded programs unlocked where turksat on the other hand has got a variety of english channels like cnbce - e2 - buisness channel - tnt (new channel very good) - mtv aswell as english premire games and fa cup games, but bbc world has been recently taken off turksat and replaced by al jazeera english (good news channel uses the same feeds for reports) if you still want bbc world then you will have to install another dish or even better change the box to a next box and you can quite a lot of the coded channels including 4 bbc channels and loads of movie channels hope this helps regards ukturk

Ukturk, Thanks for prompt answer. Where would we be without you. Couple of questions. If I get a Next box does it need to be patched to get coded channels, would it need to be continually re-patched when codes are changed (don't have PC in TRNC) ? If I fit a second dish, could signal be routed down same cable from roof to box or do you have to run 2 cables and change over at box ? I already have splitter to connect sat and ariel to tv. Maybe answer is motorised dish.

hi essexob ok firstly when you buy the next ye2000fta box the place you buy it from tell them you want the new software installed which is dated for the 21st of march this software automatically updates the polish channels (english soundtrack) and tps auto update this update you have to manually (just press the green button then press ok) these codes do change but on a average of 6-8 months sometimes earlier, if the codes do change all you do is buy a flash disk and take this down to anyone who specialises in this and they will put this new software on to the flash disk and then you insert it in to the usb port on the next box simple as that ok secondly if you want more of a selection of sattelites then a option is to go for a motorised dish, but if you are only want just turksat with a second dish (cheaper option) then you dont need two sets of cables running from the two dishes, what you do is a bit of kit called a diseq switch what this little unit does is joins the two cables coming off the 2 lnb's (dishes) and then the exsisting one cable runs into your box this is not expensive costs around 15ytl, so when you change channel on your box from one sattelite program to another sattelite program it is instant hope this helps and if you need any further info give me a post regards ukturk p.s this is a link to the channels you will get if you get the next box http://www.flysat.com/tps.php http://www.flysat.com/polsat.php

ok now you gary!!! lol what you will need to recieve hotbird/nilesat/turksat channels is firstly the next ye2000 fta box, then you will need 3 90cmdishes with the lnb's, a diseq switch to join all the dishes together, cables and the install or if you dont want too many dishes on your roof then you can go for a motorised dish then you will need a diseq motor and one 90cm dish the same box and this way you can receive loads more sattelites as for installers a well known installer is ice man his number is 0533 861 0329 not sure he can get you a next box but give him a call he might be able to or coldsat shop 0392 821 8309 or the next best thing is lefkosa, if you have no joy there then i can send you one from here in turkey with all the latest software installed and all the channels put in order for you and send it to you by cargo, you can email me directly if you go for this option hope this helps regards ukturk

kav its not really that confusing mate, the cheapest sat system to go for with no monthley payment is buying a receiver and a dish which is pointed at turksat with that like i sad before you will get cnbce-e2-tnt-buisness channel-mtv-al jazeera-cartoon network all in english if you like football then fox-tv8-star and ntv is perfect for you but in turkish this system would cost max 250-280ytl now d-smart is another option and this system also works on the turksat sattelite but you need a special recevier and can be expensive the cheapest box being 300ytl on top of the dish and install fee and you get a few more english programs like cnn-2 movie channels- 4 discovery channels- animal planet and a couple more, this might sound like a good package because they are promoting it as a one off payment for the box and you pay nothing further, but firstly you have to sign a contract and at the back of this contract in turkish it says they have the right to charge a monthly subscription whenever they want and a lot of people in the industry have said they cant just carry on selling boxes and make a profit cos they paid x amount of money to get these channels so how are they going to recoup their money from that!!!! so in my view i would just stick to the first system i mentioned earlier hope this helps regards ukturk

hi kav like i mentioned before mate if you listened!!! lol the sat receiver buy a next ye2000fta this is the name of the make, the dish can be any make, the sattelite that you want the dish to be pointed at is TURKSAT i said that if you like football fox-tv8-star and ntv is perfect for you these are channels mate not a system hope this help you out and if you need any further info give me a post regards ukturk p.s im sure iceman will be able to sort this out for you good luck and you dont really wont to be paying no more than 250ytl-280ytl £100-£112

I'm sure Sky receiving disks are v large for Cyprus/Turkey but BBC & ITV Freesat service launched yesterday, HD, 5.1 surround sound etc for about £150 one off charge. In UK you can use standard SKY dish/LNB, so probably same dish as would be required for SKY abroard.

| Hi UKturk Cheers for that mate, I'll pm you re payment soon. Can I load my USB memory stick in the UK on my computer here and then take it out to the TRNC to retune the box or do I have to take a laptop out there and do the whole thing in situ, just thinking about problems with an internet link there. | hi lemtich yes you can load your usb memory stick from your computer, when i send you the software, then all you do is plug the memory stick in to your next box and it will update the box, but you will still need to be near a computer cos i have to go thru the procedure with you and load the channels in for you, the only simple way we can do this if we link up either on msn or skype and i can talk you thru it otherwise if you do something wrong you could mess up the box if you want to go ahead with this i would require payment before i send my software of to you (email me and ill send you bank details) let me know what you decide warm regards ukturk |

Hi Lemtich, No not 1001 Rd next turn left. Dont know what they charge to install to realign a dish is 40 ytl, the next ye box is 165 for standard and 230ytl for the super. You will need 2 dihes one tuned to hotbird the other to Nilesat and and the device to join the sats together. The service from Tectan is Ok and wont rip you off.

hi kav there is no standard 2000 model next box, there are four versions of the 2000 series the ye2000 fta which differs in style to the other 3 boxes but exactly the same all that is diffrent it has no card slot or module slot - the ye2000 cx has 1 card slot - the ye2000 cis has a card slot and a module slot and finally the 2000 dpcis which are for motorised systems the ye2000fta or the ye200cx is more then enuf for you the card slot is only used for example you want to get digiturk or any other package that need a card then you can just slot it in the cx and you wont have any problems and diffrecne in price is only 60-65ytl then after this is all done i come in with my handy fingers and sort the new software and all the channels out for you hope this helps ukturk

Hi Ukturk Kav is going out to order the units and get them installed, presumeably he still has to tell Tectan he wants 042108 (date) yazilim (software) and upto date softcam emu keyler installed on to the boxes? Also if the ye2000fta has no card slot etc, how do you transfer the software onto it? Does Kav need a phone link to you and an internet link to install the software in a box or can he do it on a computer with a flashcard and then later install it on the box? Sorry if some of the answers are going to be bleeding obvious. Lem

hi lem no probs in kav getting the box from tectan, but belive you me they wont be able to mangae to do it cos at the end of the day they are not technical in that department and all they do is sell the boxes the software and softcam update has to be done by me or someone that knows the technical ins and outs of the next box otherwise if they do something wrong they can mess the box up and it wont work you dont need no cables to connect or download the software on to the box this is all done by the usb port on the box and the flash disk (memory stick) basically you insert the memory stick in to the usb port of the next box and download it from the flash disk it would be best if kav has some sort of internet connection when we go thru the setup either on skype or msn because i have to go thru step by step on doing this and its better speaking than written instuctions in case they do something wrong, or i can send the software either by email or file sending thru skype-msn while you are still in the u.k save it to the flash disk then when you got it all setup i can give you my mobile number and you can call me and we can do this that way whatever is easy for the both of you i await your descision regards ukturk plus another thing to remember shops like tectan wont know exactly what channels you can recieve and what ones will be unlocked with this software and also what channels are in english so what i will have to do is step by step go thru the frequencies to load all the english channels otherwise you will have at least 1000 channels of useless channels and they will all be mixed up

hi andy&deb yes i have said it a million times and no i dont mind!!lol basically if you dont want to be paying out a monthly fee for sat tv then the best option to go for is a two dish system one dish pointed at hotbird and the other nilesat and the next box either the ye2000fta 165ytl or the ye2000cx box 225ytl you can purchase the box the dishes and the install from Tectan they are located in girne centre you can ask dixie for direction but i think he has provided that in his earlier posts, you dont have to pay monthly for this but you will have to pay me for updating the box with the new software which will open loads more channels on hotbird including the premireship football, on nilesat these channels are open anyway and no updating will have to be done on this sat thou you only get 5 english channels all the rest are in arabic hope this helps ukturk

hi alison like kav has said its easy all you do is deposit the amount 50ytl into my turkish account (ill email you my account details), then all i do is send you my software to you via msn or skype then you save it on to a memory stick take it out of your usb port on your computer then insert it in to the front of the next box but while you are doing this ill will be at hand to talk you thru the procedure on msn or skype and then once that has done i also go thru with you in programming the channels dont worry i have done this many times with people who are not computer or techno minded just ask dixie normus!!!! lol lol kav i very much doubt tectan will email you back, your best bet is to ask dixie how much he paid for it to be fully installed or just give them a call (i know ur in the u.k at the moment but you wont be on the phone for very long) hope this all helps regards ukturk

hi guys odgy where their is a will there is a way!!!!! lol if you havent got access to a pc in your apt then i would send you the software to you on msn or skype while you are in the u.k then you save it on to the memory stick, then what i will have to do is give you my mobile number and you can contact me and we will have to go thru it this way as long as you get a turkcell chip to use in your phone the cost wont be to expensive to call me answer to your first question it will be easy for you to pop down to tectan buy the receiver and get them to install it because you are living on a complex and their are dishes already installed you wont need the dishes but first contact your developer and find out where these dishes are pointed at then we can go from their, digiturk is another option but for a good package you will pay at least 45ytl a month but the quality of the programming is not that great andy and deb no probs, like i said to odgy if you have not got access to the internet in your house the best bet will be that i send you the software via msn or skype or email just before you leave to go to cyprus then once you have got the box all set up you can call me then we will go thru thru it step by step, if you email me (my email add is on my profile) i will tell you the cost and my bank details for you to send me the money either from the u.k or if you have a bank in cyprus that way hope this helps and hope to speak to you soon regards ukturk

hi bilbo welcome to the forum not sure where you got this info from because bbc channels have been running on hotbird for many years!!!! bbc prime which is a spinoff of bbc1 which shows eastenders and some up to date programmes like life on mars, mastercheif and a whole load of old programmes the channels you have prbabley read about is a bbc package this has four bbc channels - bbc entertainment - bbc knowledge - bbc lifestyle and bbc cbbcies this package is from poland but you can switch the sound from polish to english this started the begining of this year and you cant currently watch it because it is coded and is a pay tv channel but with the service i provide for the software for the next box opens these channels aswell as many other channels hope this helps and if you need any further info give me a post regards ukturk

hi odgy that good you will have them installed, but this £150 does this include the box aswell and if it is remember what i told you it has to be either the next ye2000fta or the ye2000cx super plus no other box will do!!!! if she does buy the box for you it has to be these make sure she understands this normally i take payment first before i send any porgrams or software to people not that i dont trust you but previous times this has happend and i dont hear from them until they try doing it themselves then they contact me saying they have messed up their box!!! and also each software and program differs to the box so i will need to know what box she is buying or if you are going to buy it once over there then i wil have to send you both programs before you leave the u.k, if you have skype my address is (erkan.ibrahim location marmaris turkey) or you can email me just click on my profile to get my email address and i can give you my bank details and to send you the fıles warm regards ukturk p.s if this £150 is just for the dishes and install then this is a rip off cos it shud cost you this much or there abouts for the full system

hi robin hood the german channels are actually on astra 1 f/g/h/kr/l 19.2east with a 2mt dish you will be able to get mtv austria - eurosport - euronews - nick austria - rtl austria - vox austria - rtl2 austria - super rtl austria - hse - das erste - ntv - eins plus, extra, festivel - rbb - ndr - sat1 - pro7 - kabel 1 - n24 - 9live if your misses wants zdf which i know a lot of germans watch you can get a 90cm dish pointed at hotbird to get this channels aswell as arte and k3 also mate if you get this next box i have been telling people to get this also unlocks the premire package on astra which has a lot of channels on this like movies which you can change to english soundtrack and german subtitles so both of you are happy aswell loads of other channels but again i would have to program the box to open this package and if you do get hotbird for zdf and arte you can also get all the english channels aswell so you can kill two birds with 1 stone hope this helps regards ukturk

hi guys, popped into tektan's hardware branch last week and looked at the ye 2000 am sure it is well beyond my brainpower to load any software into it but I could perhaps plug it into the mains without an accident, hopefully tho' the wife keeps threatening to bring her laptop to cyprus... we got a 90cm dish for her russian language soaps but there is some german stuff on hotbird as well, see lists on "lyngsat" also nilesat same database the footprint for astra 2d is a complete joke, 4.2m dish required in north cyprus and has to be very carefully set up by a real expert astra 2d was refocussed to a very tight uk-beam, a polite way to describe it, this change originally prompted by rows between the bbc and ebu... carries similar stuff to freeview ie bbc 1234 itv 1234 but not channels 4/5 found during experiments in uk you can do seemingly impossible things like pick up sirius euro beam and hotbird with a 35cm blue azure portable dish but heaven help you if it clouds over andre

hi andre you wont need the brainpower to download the software on to the box, thats what im here for!!!! lol you can get sirus no probs for the russian channels and ive got software to open the channels on their aswell as 4 rtvi channels on hotbird the only worthwhile german channel on hotbird is zdf and arte all the rest are on astra1 robin hood there is not a 7010 next box are you sure it is a next make box, like i said you will need one of the mentioned boxes to open the premire package otherwise you can use your box you got to get the free channels on astra1 and zdf on hotbird, 290 euro is a very good price for 2.4 dish but you really dont need that big dish you can get a 1.8mt or 2mt for astra1 and this is good enough odgy who ever you buy this system from in the price it must include 2x 90cm dishes with lnb's included (one postioned at hotbird and the other at nilesat)- a diqeq switch (connects the 2 dishes into one cable to plug in to the receiver) - cables - the next box either the ye2000fta or ye2000cx super plus and of course install so find out what you are getting for £150 of the management company if this is not including the box in the price then its a rip off and wait and get it from tektan hope this helps all of you regards ukturk hope this helps

as ever have to defer to uk turk's amazing inside knowledge except on a small point: the "five russian channels" on sirius are from ukraine and this always prompts the wife to start spitting venom easily the best russian language channel on hotbird is "channel one rossiya" featuring russian programming very much along the lines of bbc 1 but its west european relay pumped out via hotbird hosts advertisements in ukrainian: I find a horse blanket helps absorb the sudden bites and lunges andre ps tek-tan charged us 67 pounds to set up a 90cm dish tho' the cabling was already in place, for receiver we use a phoenix fta which is just £49 from the satellite superstore, who you can phone up and are extremely helpful, or you can buy a tiny 12v comag from maplins this is only the size of a paperback book and performs surprisingly well nextstar 2000 you mention is not much more bought locally and has the usb

hi odgy let me break it down on average what everything will cost so you have a general idea 1) ye2000cx super plus 225ytl - 2) 2x90cm dishes 100ytl - 3) diseq switch 15ytl - 4) 20mt cable 20ytl - 2x lnb 30ytl which is a total of 390ytl plus the price for install which is around 100ytl so total is around 490ytl this converts to around £200 so what they are charging seems a bit expensive, what you do is get them to break down the costs for you they cant really overcharge you on the items so they must be charging a lot of money to install hope this helps warm regards ukturk

Hi ukturk you seem to be on the ball most informative/helpfull with most issues on this forum. We have sooo many questions as does everyone who is making the leap. We were accross in Dec/jan and ended up buying one of the Fikri Terkan apartments in Alsancak which we are very happy with our purchase and intend to make TRNC home, no rose tinted specs here though. Question my wife is Russian (Tatar) and I am Brit is there a sat system available that will give us both Russian speaking and English channels?? if so what would we need and what would the approx costs be. Cheers Mike & Vinera

Dear Mike Plenty of RU lang TV options: 1m dish Hotbird - ist channel, Rossiya, Vesti, Sarafan, Music and "God" channels - non subscription - you'll see BBC World and CNN, and Euronews has ENG and RU lang feeds - BBC Prime is pay TV but currently "easy" to crack.. but that won't be the case for much longer.. OR add another 1m dish ( don't let anyone say smaller is OK - it rains HARD in CYprus) and you'll get free Eng lang channels from Dubai: MBC2, 4, Action OR get a good 1.4m offset dish and twin lnb feed to get many RU lang TV channels at 75/80 degrees east Orion Express STS, TV Center, NTV, and more OR go for a 2.1m - bigger for Famagusta - and she can get the NTV+ package - this is pay TV .. but Discovery channels, etc., have a ENG lang feed. re msg 124 TRNCC YES, currently dreamboxes do work - if you are getting a reliable fed top de-encrypt But don't expect this card sharing lark to work much longer.. Soon you really WILL have to pay to watch pay tv..

re msg 125 No probs - if you need to know more ask away.. If buying in Cyprus it is a good idea to try and see what a house is like on a cold wet windy winters day... they can be very cold..poorly insulated. I know it sounds crazy, but central heating is very useful :(
