Just been booking flights with pegasus and happened to read the luggage allowance small print and from October 09 there will be a charge for additional hold bags EVEN if they are within your 20kg allowance. Don't know if anyone esle has noticed this but it might be worth checking. Liz

That is ridiculous its bad enough having a 20kg allowance including your hand luggage, next they will be saying NO luggage only hand bags allowed

Msg 1 Liz W - I have mentioned the one bag rule a number of times since August when it was first mentioned on the Pegasus T&C page Msg 2 Smithy - where do you get the 20Kg from there are different rules for different routes and also for different flight dates. To and from the UK there is currently a 25Kg free weight allowance which will change to 20 Kg for next spring this is for the hold baggage you still are allowed a bag to go in the cabin with you which is not part of your hold allowance. By the way in the airlines defence with some of the low prices that they are offering you are doing well i.e . today you can get November return flights for about £233 around 4.5 to 5 pence per mile - based on about 2,600 miles each way (this could have been around 170 per person had you booked early). Free baggage allowance is a bonus when you see it as a per mile charge - the airline could put freight in the hold instead.

It will depend on your travel dates and at least in the UK I understand that the handling agent will use the weight that is on your eticket. Where people have been booked through IAH we have advised the UK ground handling team what figure was shown on the system when we placed the order so I believe they intend to honour that for you. (One of the benefits of coming to buy via flightholiday).

I have just purchased tickets for easter from Pegasus, this is what is printed on the luggage allowance. The following as a direct copy form my E ticket. The passengers have 15kg baggage allowance in domestic lines flights. The passengers under the age of 2 years do not have baggage allowance. The hand baggage allowance is 8KG in all our flights. From 25th of October 2009, the new baggage rules will apply on BOTH domestic and international routes. You may carry one piece of baggage free of charge, but will you will be required to pay a charge for carrage of the second piece of baggage even if it is within the total permitted baggage allowance weight. visit http://www.flypgs.com

I think its just another way of getting money out of people. Having said that the last time we flew with pegasus some of the bags/cases people had were ridiculous and they could hardly lift them. So it doesn't seem fair to expect the ground staff to either. Liz

Msg 9 Smity if you look near the flight details you will see a figure under the heading Bagaj that is your weight allowance. Msg 10 Liz W Point one - I would agree if you said it is a way for the airline to make a living and a profit - they have to pay for services at airports and if they are going to offer good deals they need to make money other ways Point two - 32Kg is the maximum weight allowed in the UK per bag. Ground staff are not just at check in (which all of us think about) but the luggage handlers who are at the hold who have a hard task with hauling and stacking in a very confined area.

| sorry i meant baggage handlers aswell, as you can often see them trying to haul bags onto the ramps up to the plane. 32kg is the max weight i know, but not on the pegasus flights to and from London. Also ,I am all in favour of making a living and keeping things competitive but ,think of someone who either does not have one large bag or cannot manage one large bag , but can manage 2, its a shame that they will have to pay extra don't you think. | Does anyone have up to date info on weight allowance for Pegasus and CTA. Also what do they charge per kilo for being overweight? That is more important, coz I think I have overdone it on the babies clothing and poor Liz and Guido are gonna have to lug them back to NC. Any help in replying would be appreciated. If they are overweight, I am willing to pay the excess. |

Tara on another thread I did suggest that people could also contribute the Excess charge of £8.00 per Kilo so I am very glad to see you are contemplating doing so.

Hi That would make the babies clothing a tad expensive though, wouldn't it, at £8 per kilo? If you're carrying a majority of soft items like clothing, why not maximise your baggage alowance by minimising the weight of the bag itself, ie, carry this kind of stuff in those huge nylon laundry-style bags? (Most suitcases weight around 4-5 kilos's by themselves !!) Susie

Good sense Susie - I guess it depends on how much is being carried. I suspect that those who are willing to give might only have a kilo or two and can get that in their own weight allowance. Where one person like Lilli or Teresa is bringing extra for other people then they will be over their own allowance and that is why I suggested a contribution would be nice and was gald to see Tara volunteering.

Just a thought, but for clothing I actually use large sports bags ie holdalls. They only weigh 1.5 kilos each as against suitcases which usually weigh 4-5kilos.
