Have just been to the residency office in Nicosia yesterday and the system had changed again BUT good news. The were in the process of putting in an electronic number system whilst we were there. The same system as the bank has. We were there from 0930 until 1600 yesterday and it was bedlam. So if anyone is going for their residency they should wait two or three days by which time the new system should be in place and hopefully operating ' properly '.

Sheila, When I renewed a short time ago, the Ergunes girls charged TL50 each for us as a couple. My guess is that they charge TL60 for an individual. You need to pay them in advance, TL175 for the permit + TL6 (I think) for the stamps + their fee and leave your passport with them. You can then collect your passport, duly stamped and pink alien book, usually in the afternoon of the following day. Hope this helps.

Bert that helps a lot, many thanks again, was worried about handing over my passport, but its worth all the hassle rather than going to Lefkosa. Girne Police said it would be ready in two weeks, but I think its best to leave it 3 weeks Your a star thanks again Sheila

At least give the new system the benefit of the doubt before you slate it. You live here, they are trying to improve things and at least there is control, serious control, unlike the UK,of who is allowed to live here.
