Chinese restaurant was closed down in Birmingham about 2 years ago for serving dog. Stopped eatin Chinese many years ago because of this and have always suspected that there being no shortage of domestic dogs and cats here, that it may well be in the menu. South Korea have a disgraceful track record of maltreating dogs, cats etc and they are kept in cages at the market places, ready for cooking in the open air. PETA and CIWF tried to get olympics stopped there because of the extreme cruelty. Animals are boiled alive. Never bought Korean cars or goods, they are Phillistines!!! It's not so much that they eat dogs and cats, We have to allow for different cultures BUT it's their absolute cruelty and total disregard for the animals welfare that does my bloody head in.

All of this is a shame because Chinese food is good - and it is unfortunate once again that a few ruin it for everyone else

Provided they are bred, kept and slaughtered humanely, there should be no objection by anyone to OTHERS eating dogs, cats or even rats. In a jungle "restaurant" in French Guiana I have eaten rat, snake and monkey. Tasted OK to me. I understand your sentiments Lilli but these days not eating Chinese food might be easy enough - not buying anything Chinese (in TRNC) will make life very difficult.

Fine mr williams if you know what you are eating, we have travelled extensively and hubby was in the MN for 18 yrs, and yes, we have eaten many different things, but not someone's pet served to us as chicken then having to spit out its micro chip, how can you condone or even make light of it, this only goes to show some people up in their true colours ugh !! PS. Some of our Muslim hosts love a bacon sarnie, big difference !!

I don't think you'll find that I either condoned or made light of people being served with pet dog. Please read my post No. 8 again, where I said: "Provided they are bred, kept and slaughtered humanely, there should be no objection by anyone to OTHERS eating dogs, cats or even rats."
