Do you remember David and Sue Petch who were 'deported' just a year ago? News is they are picking uip the pieces, and are grateful to so many people here who have been good to them, especially Gordon at Celebrity for the continued storage of their possessions. They would like to relieve Gordon of the responsibility, and are asking IS THERE ANYONE SHIPPING HOUSE CONTENTS TO ENGLAND? iF SO, is there room for about 20 boxes so they can get their knives and forks (plus some other bits) back. There are two reasons for this (1) to get back some of their things, and (2) to help them get a business going 'to make the money to escape '. Anyway who thinks they can help, or know anyone else who can, please get in touch with me, either on this page, or by e mail. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

Long story, and no one is quite sure. The official story was because they did not have enough money for temp residency (although they were one of Gary Robb's purchasers and had already paid a large sum of money for a property that never got finished). As a result they used to go over the border and get another 90 days at a time. It was decided this was not allowed, and......... just almost overnight they had to go. There is more to it than that, and I don't know, and they have never actually said. But one moment they were all verhy invovled with life here - a stall at Lambousa, part of Theatre Lambousa, helping faithuflly with the turtles at Karsiyaka, the son and a mate started up as a guitar duo, and then..... out! I am sure there is more to do, but I don't know and there are many stories around, but.... As far as I am concerned, they were O.K. people. Maybe they flouted the law, but they landed back in U.K with nothing, and no one to help them, and I know of far worse crimes

Could I point out that the boxes are not overly large: between 1 and 3 cubic feet each. Certainly not packing crates!

Thanks everyone, I will pass on your really kind messages, - in fact I will suggest that David and Sue read Cyprus 44 for the 'feel good factor' which they really need. But, I am still hoping someone can actually help them by coming up with the name of someone who can actually takde those boxes for them. Please ask around! I know that David and Sue would far rather come back here to get them for themselves, but life is never 'fair' but it will be good if at least they can have their own knives and forks to use (etc, etc).

No, the BRS can't help. And no they cannot come back! They wouldlove to, but the law here said 'Off you go and don't darken our doors again' or words to that effect. As to the 'feel good factor' I have written and told them to look up the web page to see what kind things people have said. And the boxes - no they don't want boxes, they want space in a container to ship back their boxes - in other words, if someone has space in a container for their boxes! Currently, the boxes are being stored free of charge at Lambousa. But of course, where there is life, there is always hope, but currently they cannot come back - no money! And of course they are one of the many Robb victims, and should that situation change, there might be an avenue for them, but for now - no way. Life just isn't fair sometimes!

Thanks to 15, 16, and 17 for the questions. I don't know the answer, but have written to the Petch's for response. It could of course get complicated, but I guess the answers will make all the difference. As soon as I hear, I will post their responses. Thanks for the interest.

O.K the answers are: 1. They live in a county to the north of London, but not too far out. 2. Sadly they did not have time when packing to itemise anything but as David says " everything is connected to our lives and household general items." 3. Payment. David says " we would not expect a free ride and as long as we were aware of the costs involved and the time range we would do our best to raise some cash." does that help anyone to offer help. Incidentally, David and Sue says they have read the kindly comments made and that is one of the reasons why they would love to come back. The kind hearts and warm hearts that make up so many people out here. So, anyone able to help!!!!????
