We are coming to TRNC next week for 10 days and want to spend a day in Famagusta. Is it possible to accommodate the whole family? Beach for my daughter(is Glapsides best), shopping for the wife!! and maybe some sight seeing forme. Can we park up (and where) and then carry out the above without having to keep driving around? Never been to Famagusta before.Sorry for all the questions but any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my first ever posting but always find lots of useful information. Thank You

Famagusta beach next to the Palm hotel is good. Nice little bar on the beach too. Very interesting looking at all the "old" hotels behind, and great if you like snorkling. There are pedal boats to hire too. Something for all ages there. There is a car park you can use next to it too. The walled city is fab. Again great for all ages. Plenty of parking. We always enter the walled city next to the big roundabout with the war statue on it. Turn left straight into the walled city then left again. Almost straight away you can park on the left in a small area that does get some shade. From there you can limb the walls. Its just a short walk down to the main square. I prefer the old city by night. Although the walled city by day. All the little bars spill out onto the street. Wednesday is meant to be the best night to go. We found a Friday night very quiet. Lots of nice little shops to go to too!

Salamis ruins are fab. Just further up the coast towards Bogaz. Take lots of water as it does get hot there. People of all ages will like running around there! There is a beach there, a great place to eat and a big picnic area. I think you will all enjoy your time in Famagusta, and may find a day is not long enough!

Thepotter Best Kleftiko to be found is when entering the walled City through the very narrow Gate/Arch turn immediate right, an old rustic licensed cafe/restaurant can be found further on 100 yards on the left. Ismet will know the name of the Street and, no doubt, the outlet's name. Richard

RE msg 10, Brinsley: (...) Best Kleftiko to be found is when entering the walled City through the very narrow Gate/Arch (...) => Nonsense, Dear Richard. You find "küb" in Famagusta and the rest of TRNC, because that's the Turkish word for the Greek word kleftiko.
