Just wanted to promote this place located on the main road in Karakum (nearly opposite the pizza place) selling bags of dog biscuit. Ive shopped around and believe this is the cheapest. 105 ytl for 15 kg.

I used to buy our dog food here at very good prices. Last week I went in and the price of our regular 20kg bag had risen from 55tl to 80tl. I declined. I suspect they are doing less business since Erdeners, Lemar etc now sell the larger bags at good prices, so they put their prices up to compensate. No understanding of market forces... a local problem!

Does anyone buy those large bags of frozen chicken heads labelled for DOGS AND CATS from Lemar. Do you know if you can you get any other parts of the chicken rather than their flipping heads?

yes you can get the breast bones and a back part. i get them all the time or if Lemar only have heads and feet i go to the Kırını chicken shop. there is 1 near Karakum lemar or one near sele reastaurant . just ask for what parts you want. very good value for dog food sometimes there is quite a bit of chicken still left on.

Eukanuba is a very superior type of dog biscuit. More nutritious and less crap in than the stuff you buy off the shelves in supermarkets.

Eukanuba for dogs & Iams for cats is a totally different ballgame to the supermarket available dried foods.

They are dried meat & are specially formulated to avoid kidney problems caused by the high ash content in most dried foods . There is no need with these foods to provide any "wet" food in addition. This makes them far more suitable for feeding in the hot weather. Our Cypriot cat has just started on Iams, which has only recently become available in the TRNC., & he loves it.

I brought 2 cats from the UK. to Cyprus in 2002. They had been fed on Iams in the UK. They both achieved 18 yrs. One was a pedigree Burmese. Their usual life expectancy is only 12/13 yrs.

If you go to your local butcher and ask nicely, you can get all these scraps, off cuts and bones for free!! Also, why pay tons of money for biscuits, when you can get fresh meat for half the cost and it's much more natural for them to eat meat!
