We went to duty free, didn't buy much as they did not seem that good a bargain, but when we went to pay, we were told that if we paid in sterling we would get 25% off, and we did? So bought quite a lot more... I just wondered why?

Just a thought.... What exchange rate did they give you? As I recall everything is priced in Euro's so maybe exchange rate was really bad. That way they make it back up... As I said just a thought... John.

Not sure, but the second item we bought as an afterthought (having thought it a good deal on first lot of items) was priced 39 euros, and they charged us £30?
