A verification email will be sent which you will need to act upon to confirm your email address.

You may not be allowed to post until you confirm your email address.



The above is from the rules. However, if someone wants to register to join cyprus44 and inputs an email address that is not either an ISP or Work email address - they can not proceed further. Those of us who are retired will not have a Work email address. Those of us who are useing 3G do not have an ISP provided email facility (Text yes, email no).



My email address is a Gmail address, neither work nor ISP.



How does a prospective new member join? Why are all the members with Gmail/MSN/Hotmail etc still members?



Have I missed something in the translation when trying to assist a prospective new member>

Yes, I know I should contact Izzet,but I wanted the writers above to know that I have other friends keen to join but who are barred because their e mail address is a hotmail one. As they are perfectly respectable , hard working, honest folk, one can only ask 'Why can they not join?' Hotmail accounts are recognised world wide, and I know for myself are often more reliable than my ISP.

So, can't we stretch the rules? Over to Izzet, whom I am sure reads this?!>

Lots of folk opt for Gmail and other web based email providers because they don't let as much crap through and filter out harmful stuff better than wonky old Outlook. Lots of sites ban Hotmail and Yahoo email addies. But not the others.



I see this rule as being on a par with saying you have to have a 'landline' phone number to join up to somewhere these days. A bit outdated.

Contact Izzet and the situation is that if you are a respected member and you want to introduce friends to Cyprus44 that have other e-mail addresses that are non conformant then it should not be a problem. But you realise that by introducing friends you are also responsible for making them aware of the conduct and etiquette that is required by this board.
