my friend has the same problem it states you cannot register with a free email address it has to be example a work email address! she has a gmail address and doesn't work so how can she join? my address is gmail so if i was trying to join now i wouldn't be allowed. there must be lots of people who don't work and only have gmail or hotmail addresses and can't get from their isp either. there must be some way that this problem can be over come.

The reason why these rules have been put in place is to deter multiple posters and to make sure that every new member is traceable. Believe me we have had our share of multiple posters in the past that just want to wreak havoc on this board. Izzet although not logged on to the board at the moment will ultimately read his e-mails and respond. AJ

AJ So will this mean that new members can only join if they are traceable? If so, what about the existing members that I suppose are not traceable? I do understand the need for security and to put in place what we in the trade used to call "Crap Traps" and by the trade I used to be a network manager for the MOD so have a faint understanding of the problems you are faced with. Have you thought of an IP trace instead? The loophole for idiots there is to run two PC's or to change IP address each time. However, you do need to be a bit dedicated to do it and if you are faced with that sort of person then you are on a loser anyway with a forum that is open. Only trying to help by the way.

waddo As you know nothing is perfect, there is no all encompassing solution to multiple posters and I am sure that Izzet will address your concerns when he is back on line. Stay with it and if Izzet does not contact you over the the next couple of days then contact me and I will endeavor to try and get it sorted. AJ

OK. I was away for a few days. I am going over my emails one by one. waddo - if you have emailed me, I'll get back to you. The reason why you cannot use free email address is to prevent abuse. In the past 6 months or so, many banned members joined again and again using Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail or similar free web-based email address, which only takes 2 minutes to sign up with a new one. With this new implementation, most people will not have problems as most have a work email address or an ISP email address. Rarely, we will have people who only has a Hotmail account. I offer solutions to these members if they are being recommended to us by another member. This way, we know that they are not fake. Izzet

Izzet/AJ, Many thanks for your assistance, with luck it should all be sorted soon but do not be surprised if I contact you again as the new member is not totaly computer literate - which is why I ended up being involved - and may need a tad more assistance. Looks like a good scheme as well but I fear that there will be many more new users who go to 3G and have no ISP address to use. Still, a little work at the start will always help to prevent masses of work at the end and it is a good thing to try. Well done guys and my thanks again.
