Greek Cypriots are now worried about this possibility. Pegasus Airlines have obtained a license to fly from Athens to Izmir in exchange for a Greek Airline to fly from Athens to Istanbul. So far so good but watch this: Pegasus is planning to continue her flight from Izmir to Ercan. So theoretically one should be able to board the plane at Athens and get to Ercan via Ismir on the same plane. Greek Cypriots are now very red under the collar and are saying that it is not possible to take a ticket from Athens for Athens-Izmir and Izmir-Ercan. The Greek Travel Agents may be prevented from booking direct from Athens to Ercan but what is stopping the passengers booking online and paying by credit cards. Where there is a will, there is a way. ismet PS: It will be cheaper to fly Athens to Ercan than Athens to Larnaca. http://www.elkocyprus.com

Cyprus Airways will have to reduce its price for Athens-Larnaca to compete with Pegasus. No other way! ismet

Good post. Ironically, I believe it may be of interest to our "friends" in the South, especially if it's cheaper!
