The Trnc Constitutional Court has conditionally agred to set up A Prime Ministry Auditing Board to root out corruption. This will be established as long as members are voted from the general public. Any takers for this job.x

Not quite so. We already have "Sayıştay" which is the body to audit all government departments including the municipalities. The ruling UBP party wants to set up a special auditing body who will get instructions direct from the prime minister and the PM also wanted to appoint the members as he wished. The president Talat did not approve it and instead sent it to the constitutional court to see if it complies with the constitution. There are arguments that this new body will be the private body of UBP to go against the opposition and simply investigate their past performances. The court decided by 3-2 that it is not against the constitution but they deccided unanimously that the way members would be appointed is unconstitutional. so it will have to be redrafted. ismet

Is there not an accountant/auditor appointed by Ankara that sits in a Nicosia office looking through the books ensuring money goes where it legitimately should go? Richard

Doesnt the TRNC whole structure work on you do something for me and i will do something for you mentality. Everything would have to be taken to ground zero and rebuilt to achieve any real change in system.

Good for the TRNC. Maybe the UK could do with a Constitutional Court to decide on EU 'treaties' (Lisbon), Referendum, Constitutional reform, Parliament spending and expenses etc.
