Sandie If you get someone to do this for you it will cost you a lot of money and they can only pave the way they can't do it all for you. It's really not that hard to do if you want more info e-mail me and I will lay it out step by step for you.

Thanks everyone. My problem is I do not have a Kocan or have a rental agreement (need one of these with my name on it) so the Police were not happy! Anybody else had this problem? Sandie

Yes, my son and his fiancé had this problem too. In the end they decided not to stay (not because of that) but it seems to be yet another thing to contend with. Its the different surname thing thats the problem, I seem to remember this being asked before? I then suggested change of name by deedpoll to get round it!!

Hi Sandie

I have to do mine soon and am (by reading your posts) in the same position as you. We first have to go to a notary and get a paper that says we are 'kept women' for want of a better phrase. Perhaps we could go through the motions together.

You can mail me if you like.

Annie

Went to a Notary and he said there is no such document he can produce but confirmed that the Police were right in that a 2nd letter (already took one at the time) from the Mukhtar is required called a birlikte yasam belgesi. Police also phoned the bank whilst I was there, I guessing confirming I was solvent, even though I had up to date bank statements. Notary said once we had the 2nd Mukhtar's he would come to the Police with us, but how much he would charge for that I am not sure! Also I needed to have 2 photocopies of my latest entry stamp into North Cyprus as well. Seems like they change everything on a daily basis. Maybe easier to cross the border!! Sandie

Sorry to re-open an old thread, but did Sandie get the residency sorted out? I ask because I will have friend coming over soon who, if they decide to stay will be in the same circumstances (no kojan or rental agreement)

Thanks!!

We need to re-new our residency soon & since selling our house we don't have a Kocan or rental agreement. We are staying in a friends house and we were told by the Immigration Lefkosia to get a letter from house owner stating that, get his signature witnessed by Notary or similar & attach a copy of his Kocan.

Fingers crossed it works for us, watch this space!
