What makes the Northern Cyprus Property Market so attractive to those who have worked and saved for the future.

There is no way, these people would take the risks back in Blighty with their hard earnt cash.

What exactly turns straight honest people into gamblers?

The only thing I can think of; is that property prices strip most people of their sight, hearing and common sense.

There is the odd success story but the majority take on alot of unnecessary grief.

Could it be that the properties appear to be so cheap, they must be bargains! Where else can you "buy" an apartment for less than the price of a decent car? Villa with pool for a hundred grand! Who wouldn't be tempted?!

They say: 'There's 'one' born every minute!' - Therefore, no (or only temporary) shortage of 'takers' for TRNC property!

They may be a bit 'thin on the ground' at present, but the 'bait' is too tempting to deter them!

How many people have always fancied a holiday property in France , Spain, Italy etc and never been able to afford it.

Then they see ads for NC and see that they can afford to buy their dream after all.

Providing you dont want an investment but you want to have somewhere to go either whenever you feel like it or to retire to, then this maybe the only choice you can have. ( Excluding a village in Bulgaria for £3k with no way of getting to it!)

The aggro factor melts away the first time you use the place and you get a triumphant feeling of having beaten the bastards! Always assuming you have electricity, kocan, roads,a pool which doesn't leak and other minor requirements!

So, the best advice is: if you've already survived a coupla three rounds of 'Russian Roulette', go for it and buy 'Off Plan' - now!

Mess 9,

Have you ever played Russian Roulette where you have to chambers and one bullet?

That is exactly what your advising people to do.

suppose it also depends how old or "young" you are, i see it as i've bought something along the way, which may or may not pay off.If it does'nt then i'll use it for holidays,if it does then great.

ripoffrock - yor name says it all, your opinions are formed & will not change

sure TRNC is a riskier play than other areas & that is reflected in the price

its not for the flippers (buy & sell merchsnts) it is for those with long term interests

this actually attracts a certain type of buyer who actually who brings a lot more human value to TRNC

I bought 4 years ago, buckets of trouble with my developer, but resolved now, just about

however allowed 10% from the start ad 'rectification costs' I knew this would be the case

my interest is long term, i'm glad I bought & the property will over the long term appreciate

in the meantime i think quality of life, value for money, so uch natural beauty & 'aren't I lucky'

I don't care what what my property is worth today because I am not selling, it is irrelevant

however over a 10 year time frame there is zero to worry about, people mnust take a 'higher' view

compared with the 'flat coastal plain'............

But you will always get Wan**rs on here who think they know best but really they are either jealous, have been stung themselves, or just full of crap!!!!!!

I suppose there is a gambling element to it but so is there in most things you do in life. It depends if you think of your home primarily as a money making asset or as a place to live and enjoy on holiday or long term. My friends Villa in Lapta which he had built about 6 years ago for around £100 K, 3 bedroom with pool seems a remarkably good buy even if there is an inherent risk. He is over with his family 5 times a year and loves in. He's an astute business man but purchased the Villa for enjoyment and quality of life. Maybe it's different if it is your only asset. In the end quality of life is far more important than financial gain. Plenty of retired people from the UK in Spain have been destroyed financially by building laws..and that is in the EU. Quality of life in Nth Cyprus looks good to me after 4 visits and a further one nearly 40 years ago. This Winter will give me a proper insight.

Six years ago was before the Annan Plan referendum, Corbo! Then came the boom - now bust!
