I am wondering about finding someone to care for my 90 yold mother in Northern Cyprus. She has dementia but is otherwise pretty rational and healthy. The person sought would most probably act as a live-in carer, responsible for most of the housework and general day to day business of living as well as helping with showers, medication and outings. How will I find such a person ? How much will they cost per month ? To whoever reads and answers -thanks in advance for your interest and contribution. Wendy

hi drwendy , welcome to the forum , if your mum has dementia then i would certainly get in touch with the social service equivillant , and get a list of certified carers , given the vulnerable situation your mum is in , you can't be too careful good luck , simbas

Hi Simbas and Angel 21, Yes I am sure you are both quite right , one can't be too careful, but I'm not sure what you mean Simbas by the social security equivalent in TRNC ? Can you help me with a name and maybe even an address ? I am arriving in TRNC on Sunday 11th to check things out and would welcome any advice either of you have on how to research this problem. Many thanks in advance, Wendy

Hi Drwendy I have been trawling the worldwide web on a mission to help you, one idea is when you are out in cyprus ask at a good chemist if they have any information on the social services in cyprus the pharmacist are always very helpful, there is a lovely chemist at catalkoy near the pet shop he is englisg speaking and if i remember his wife is english and she works there with him. Good luck Angel121
