Hi could anybody recommend where to buy tyres from in TRNC ? I think i may need to replace all 4 so it could work out quite pricey, hence asking for your knowledge and assitance.

Thanks in advance

The last new tyre I bought here was from Pitstop, Catalkoy. It was recommended by a friend, I think it was 170tl, for an Opel Zafira.

Up the street opposite the Colony there's a small shop selling tyres and exhausts. I was quoted £50 each for tyres for a Suzuki Vitara. The guy spoke less English than I do Turkish but it seemed a bit on the cheap side. I sold the Vitara with the old tyres on.

There's one on the road going towards Esenteppe, don't know if they're new. The only thing you can see from the road is a tyre with lastic painted on it.

We replaced 2 tyres on our estate car at the tyre dealers on the industrial estate near the customs office in Lefkosia (behind the Mercedes showrooms). They did a great job in moving the tyres around and were cheap for good quality tyres (same as were already on the car).

If you are around Girne, there is a road opposite Molly's just up from the Pia Bella, second shop up the road do the real deal, Pirell'is only a few lira more than the Chinese imports, typically a Ford Ranger would be 300tl a corner fitted.

We have used the garage next to the Kar shop which is situated on the road next to the fire station and always have found them honest and reliable. I have been there twice in 3 weeks so I was holding my breath thinking i was going to get charged for new tyres but good as gold they repaired them for 15 tl. They also come out if you have a problem.

I recently had a flat tyre and had it changed at pitstop who were very good. I live in Alsancak though and normally use the tyre place on the main lapta road on the left hand side just after the turning with the golden lady. They are very good and reasonably priced.

Don't ever have punctures repaired its false economy.

About 10 years ago a Range Rover talking a family to Glydbourne had a tyre blow on the M40 driver killed cause an improperly mended repairn by a "National" tyre company

Also a post a few months ago about the effects of rg sun on tyre valves rotting them and causing them to blow

Your contact with the road is a very small tyre foot print

ah rigsby ,did they have "E" marking on the side of the tyre though ?.

are they tyres within 5 years old ?(date marked on tyres ) and in uk its illegal to sell tyres that are over 5 years old ....why you may ask ?

after 5 years old no manufacturer can guarantee the safety of the sidewalls and steel chords, the rubber perishes and when cornering seperates from the wall ,causing failure .

problem will not arise in cyprus as i wouldnt think the distances driven is excessive ,but europe and motorways are major cause for blow outs

On the main road in Alsancak about 200 mtrs past the golden lady turning heading towards Lapta there is a tyre company that I have used for a long time. Also if you so wish you can buy second hand tryes that have come off damaged cars and are in perfect condition, I have some on my jeep and are perfect and half the price. Some may say very dangerous thing to do but hey its your decision.

Message 3 Sorry you are out of order in my book If you live in TRNC support TRNC Just had four excellent tyres fitted to our Pajero, Pirreli semi off Rd tyres.

My son priced them in the UK and it was much cheaper here, and the difference was everything was in the price, didn,t get extras like balancing, used tyre disposal , and loads of other things slapped on like in the UK.

Little place just passed Golden lady heading towards Lapta on the right, bluedoors, the guy has an excellent reputation.
