Hi Snaefell The twister seemed to dissipate shortly after I took these photo's, as it hit land, no other postings about it, so would seem there was no damage done Navek

'Water twisters' usually dissipate before they hit land mass. I have photos of two last year that originated just off of the coast of Turkey and both seemed to be heading for the TRNC but at the last moment they both veered off to the west and disappeared within seconds of their course change. Has anyone seen an upside down rainbow out here? I have a photo of one and it is totally bizarre to see. I will have to sort out a Flickr account and start posting some of my TRNC weather related photos. I am at present experimenting with taking photos of the lightning storms which are prevalent at the moment. AJ

Thanks for replies re no damage. I have emailed them the photo to look at. Great photos - I never seem to have my camera available when things like that happen.

HI AJ, Have tried taking photos of the storms before.. its not easy... if you have a very slow shutter speed you can get some great results... if you get a flickr account join our North Cyprus Photo group.. we have quite a nice collection of photos voming together, would be great to see more.. here is the link .. http://www.flickr.com/groups/northerncyprus/

| Hi Navek I took pics too and put one on facebook. Andrew just happened to answer a phone call while we were stuck inside with the fire on and walked to the patio doors and called me. Was amazing to see but like you say it dissipated soon after. As per message 12 they do stay to the sea, they are known to us sailors as water spouts. Not so impressive if you are actually sailing!!
