Your lawyer would do this for you so you will need to give them Power of Attorney. They will then organise all the documents required - but it is normally your Passport copies along with the property/land details including the Kocan (title deeds), plus a Purchase permit application form filled out by you. Think that's it... but as I said a lawyer should do all this for you.

Take a look at this link http://www.hbpg-trnc.net/documents/purchase_apply.html You don't need to give an advocate power of attorney, you can do complete the process yourself if you have the time and the inclination. We did one via an advocate, no POA required, and another by ourselves because the advocate wanted to charge £700. It's fairly easy to do, the HBPG will help and it costs nothing.

Come on aylin I fully agree you do not need a power of attorny given to a lawyer when you can do it your self. You must find the time İ cannot stress this point enough property purchases are life altering decisions you must have your wits about you every step of the way.

Thank-you to everyone that has come back to me so far. Can't belv how difficult they make it for non Cyps to live here, esp when you consider the amount of money they collect from us via taxes... One thing confuses me... One the items they ask for is: Reference from the Police of your home country, or a copy of your Residency Visa stamp in your passort. As this is indicated as an either or, what do the two have in common? A police reference will show if I am a convicted criminal, but whats the copy of the residency stamp prove ( as you only need one of the 2)?

Msg 5, don't know. We were told we needed a subject access form from our last country of residence, maybe the residency visa stamp is a new thing. HBPG are at Pia Bella Hotel every Tuesday from noon if you need more info or help completing the application.

I may be wrong (& I'm sure that someone will tell me if I am... ) - but as I recollect, we needed to produce a 'Subject Access Form' or Police report when we made our first residency application, although not for subsequent applications. If I'm right about that, then perhaps they accept the residency stamp in your passport as proof that you have already submitted a satisfactory Police report - otherwise you wouldn't have the stamp!?!¿

MSG to all İ know that many of you will laugh at what İ about about to say due to your experiences... but it is what it is. The law.. it is strictly forbidden for anyone to purchase property or conduct bussines on the İsland if you have any form of international arrest warrant or are wanted by interpol.

RE Mesg7 Keith, wasn't the police report we produced first time round for residency a local one from Girne as opposed to one from the UK?

In 2005 the subject access form wasn't required for the residency application nor P2P. In 2006/7(not sure exactly when) the regulations changed and subject access was required for P2P (possibly residency too but we had already crossed that bridge). So I guess it depends when you applied for these.

Hi, I just went and had a look in my passport... The first residency stamp was valid from 28/03/2006~2007 The first 'Police report' was from UK dated 04/01/2006 (I wouldn't have been here long enough for the Girne police to have sussed me out! ) So as come_on_aylin says, it probably depends on your application date...
