Anyone on here using this service? And if so, are you achieving sensible download times? I have had several taking over 45 hours! I don't THINK it's a problem with my machine, but would like to be reassured.... Cheers Kimig

Hi, We use it daily with no problems. It sounds like your internet speed is very slow. Get on to your supplier and tell them the problem. When you click on ' downloads ' go to Media player and download to that. The picture quality is slightly inferior but it is much much quicker to download. Good luck....Moonrakers

Thanks Moonraker - I used to do that, but my Media Player won't work any more - problem with DRM rights. Have tried EVERYTHING...and I've been computing for approx 30 years.... I think it's time for a new computer ( maybe even the dreaded WIN7!)

We had the same problem with Extend. It took 40 odd hours to download a half hour programme. Now with Nethouse and it takes about 35 minutes to do the same download. Keep trying , it is really worth having when it is working OK. Regards....Moonrakers

Are you guys in Cyprus? I have been trying to figure out a way to download from BBC iPlayer for ages with no luck, as it says you have to be in the UK. I have tried using a free UK proxy ip address and that doesn't work either. Is there a workaround to this that you know of?

Hi Rosie Try: https://www.my-private-network.co.uk/index.php/en/get-started VPN, costs £5 a month, pay on line. (Accepts PayPal account, if you have one). I have used it sucessfully in the TRNC and here in Dubai to down load BBC iPlayer, find it fast and efficient. Good luck Smiffies

re msg 1 it could be 1/ your local ISP not allowing fast throughput or 2/ the VPN ( virtual private network ) company - allowing you to spoof- a UK presence Some companies pile loads of users on the server so the downloads are slow, and make it impossible to stream / view live UK tv using http://zatoo.com http://tvcatchup.com Ask around - to see what other folks are using in your locale, that works for them...

We use ' Hide IP..soft' here in Cyprus. The cost is about $35 per year and it works really well. We have used it for 2 years now. Moonrakers

Moonraker Can you explain a little more how to use the media player to speed up downloads please. It does take a few hours on mine, not too bad I suppose, but is slow in relation to other sites I use. Thanks Compass

Hi Compass, You must have your IP address hidden to fool the BBC that you are in the UK. When on the BBC iPlayer , select your programme you want to download. Click ' more downloads. Click ' windows Media Player' and click ' download' Clics 'Save' We connect the computer to the TV with an HMDI lead and the picture quality is excellent. Regards....Moonrakers

Compass. The download times do vary depending on your internet speed. Early in the morning is the best ( quickest ) time to download if you are an earlybird ! Media player does produce a slightly inferior picture quality but I find it much quicker. Regards....Monnrakers

Proxy Servers won't work with the download function of iPlayer - this is a pain -if your internet is slow - like for any in certain parts of CY.. A VPN should allow downloading, for later playback.

Dumyat. You can only download i player if you have a UK IP address. So if you are in Cyprus you need to to hide your IP ( inernet provider ) I use Hide IP soft. You will find it in Google. It costs about $35 per year and works very well giving you a UK address. Moonrakers.
