From the South - its electrical so by law you can not import it! Stick it under the seat or say you took it South to have it repaired - might work, might not. From the UK, switch it on, switch it off - hey presto, its second hand because it has been used. Stick a programme on it that did not come with the original set up just to prove its use. Don't ship it in the factory sealed box in any case, if you do then customs will automatically say it is new even if it is years old.

AJ - Win 7 desktop Waddo great idea, but since I will have to have it delivered here, not sure any UK company would agree to "age" it.... Very interesting to see how many folk believe in ignoring local law......

One law for the South, one law for the North and possibly also one law for the locals? Which law do we go by or do we just try to fit in between all the laws? If the British MP's can get away with what they do I see no wrong in trying to "Bend" the rules just a tad - after all the MP's are the people that we are supposed to look up to and follow so it can't be wrong!!!!! If you were making a living out of it then that is different - to me anyway.

Just a thought but can you not get it VAT from the UK as it is coming abroad? And then if you do have to pay tax here it is covered.

Chris, You are correct, if you purchase from Amazon it is a doddle getting the VAT back
