If I was "the powers to be" I would say yes, and create a huge amount of publicity. It doesn't matter whether the publicity is good or bad. It would put the TRNC in the spotlight. David does his bit, let the TRNC acknowledge this and do theirs. Somehow, I doubt if "the powers to be" could even contemplate this idea. I say this because they will probably be out shooting each other during the next day scheduled for hunting. They will probably put more effort into bringing back another citizen from a UK prison to finish a little plot near Amaranta. Why can't they wake up and generate something first. Why wait for Allah?

Hi Pinkchilli, Good idea. He could act as a roll model for all these TRNC. builders. They are all loud mouthed bully boys.! So much better than abiding by the law of the land, and becoming honourable, and resopectable citizens. wynyardman Ps Should be a good fight though!

Lovely David is too young to have done National Service in u.k - IT WAS ABOLISHED YEARS AGO. I should think it would be a doddle to do it here, but, come on folks, has anyone asked David if he wants to be a TRNC citizen. When he first came, maybe he thought he would stay, but the guy wants to help youth in Great Britain once he has got that Heavy Weight belt, and would probably regard TRNC as just one fab period of his life - and maybe with even some not so fab bits. The other factor is that he is not allowed to be involved in politics, and becoming a TRNC citizen in a place that doesn't exist, could be complicated. Having said that, I am sure Mr Talat would wave his happy hand over David as a great assett to the nation! Or am I wrong?

I understand his wife is watching the fight here in the TRNC. But that might just be a rumour. Anyway, he doesn't have to accept citizenship, it could be a great jesture even if it was offered.

I would change the name of Ercan Airport to David Haye Airport, that would generate some publicity. He could also have a beach named after him, perhaps his local one. Maybe the road he lives in. Unfortunately, I think the TRNC Government will totally miss the opportunity, just like they did with the Apoel game. They will be discussing much more important issues like, how to create more beuracracy in every sector. Oh, and don't forget the main issue, how do discourage foreign investment. Well done David, you could always defend your title here!

I think all of us who have been residents for 5 years or more and who support the TRNC should be given citizenship.

Yes, Mal, I AGREE WITH YOU. If people are prepared to throw their allin to the country and wish to give even more, then they should be allowed to become citizens - they were of course up to a while ago. It was threee years temp, two permanent and then apply for citizenship. But referring back to David's fight, I am pretty certain that the beautiful Tasha was at the ringside, gritting her teeth, as was Adam Booth's wife. The promoters were pretty mean with the ticket handouts, but family came first. And even if David never becomes a citizen, maybe a bit of recognition from the Government would not go amiss. He is a wonderful balance to the embargoes that are in place here. Perhaps he could punch them out of existence.
