Trying to avoid making North Cyprus look bad

I have a Kickboxing fight coming up and was looking to pay respect to my adopted family and do a David Haye and don the North Cyprus flag on my shorts. As 90% of my friends coming to watch are all Turkish Cypriots I was also going to give them a laugh by using a sample of Diligar in my entrance music.



Now I have found out that my opponent is Greek and am worried the above will look like an attempt to get on my opponents nerves, im not bothered about causing a political storm its just that i dont want to make Kibris look bad or get any negative press when its not even part of my biological heritage (but its in my heart)



Just after some advise shall I hold back and maybe lay of the turkish stuff or shall I go full hog get the flag as well and maybe come to the ring with my Fener kit.

Difficult one - hope all your Turkish Cypriot friends bring flags and banners. Do not worry that you are not a Turkish Cypriot - David Haye isn't - go with your heart.

Wear the flag, the greek most probably will especially if he knows your connection to trnc, also would not be suprised if the other side try to make some publicity out of the fact.

Wear both with pride, and if you have other roots wear the Irish, Scottish, Welsh or English badge. Just do what you do and do it well. Good luck.

Sorry should of said I have St Georges cross already on the shorts, I was basiclly gonna get TRNC flag sewn on as well, Im not having a massive thing like David Haye did. It was just gonna be as a mark of respect to my family.



Fight is in Telford near wales, ill def let you know how it all goes pretty nervous as this is my first one.

Im wearing both flags. I spoke with one of my friends and he reminded me that one Kickboxer wearing a TRNC flag on his shorts will be a minor blip in any negative press that the south side decides to use against the north.



I will be in Girne at the end of January to see my girlfriend so if anyone is intrested in the fight they can find me running up and down the Gilne main road every morning at 9am, I may even bring the shorts

Good luck with the fight. Wear the TRNC flag, there aren't enough people in sports with the opportunity to do so.

no matter what flag you have make dam sure you beat the opponent !!!

cos if he is going to be displaying a Greek flag you dont wanna loose if you have a TRNC flag that's for sure
