| Hello Sylvie, I have replied to this kind of question in the past. One of the main reasons we sold up in Lanzarote was due to the complex being overun with barking dogs and their ignorant owners. Type in on the search engine above: dogs or dogs barking, barking dogs and their is a lot of different info. If none is of help then I suggest you have a word with your neighbour and make him/her aware that the dogs being left out is causing you a problem. If they are nice enough! to do something about it then problem resolved. IF not then take the matter up with your local Mayor/Police & Animal care centre. Owners leaving dogs t o bark all day and night are ignorant and selfish people. We all can get annoyed with the dogs, but it is the owners who are at fault. This is when some persons put out poison for these poor dogs that are not trained or looked after properly. Good Luck. Simbas, we are over on the complex at the end of the month, when we were looking it over to purchase there were a couple of site dogs that seemed very friendly and were looked after by the contractor. I asked Raif Hassan about if a problem arose regarding dogs on site, or complex owners causing a problem, what would be the attitiude of the company. I was informed this would not be tolerated. I am a tolerant person and will be aware that we will hear the odd barking noises etc, but in no way would I and certainly others should have to put up with selfish behaviour. (I do like cats and dogs) Also Simbas since we spoke Mr Hassan has been in touch to inform me of what has been happening regarding the delay to works and information on the new builders etc, He was very genuine in Good luck Sylvie & have a nice day Patricia.....and everyone else. | thanks simbas, but it is a real problem - we never had to cope with this in france - it seems that the owner is completly under the control of the dogs and they bark night time ,a lot - i need to find a solution and most probably you will have this problem as well because it is impossible to have a good sleeps without been waken up every 2 h -maybe elko knows about the laws in cyprus - anyway my husband is going to ask to belediye the regulations about dogs cage next to houses - we are the only neighbours today i just can think of having other with uneducated dogs - hope they don't make us to come to the ultime solution - theses dogs are getting crazy and jump into the cage like wild animals, they never come out ! |

Hi Sylvie I can only answer on behalf of a friend of mine who has an apartment in Lapta. They complained to the Beledeyasi (I think that is how it is spelt - apologies if I have it wrong), the people in the office said, if the dog is owned by Cyprus people - they can do what they like. But they must have dog licence and have had injections etc. They are given document by beledeyasi each year for injection. The Muchtar insist on it. Fliss

felicity, you mean that belediye told them T C can do what they want with their dogs ? i am surprised because the law of not disturbing people is the same for every citizen - my question was - does anyone has the right to build a cage close to our house without a building permit - my husband will go on monday to belediye - he is TC AS WELL AND HE IS NOT GOING TO BE ANOY BY AN OTHER ONE - sure of that -T C OR T or foreigner - and it is not because they have dog license or injection that their dogs must bark and distrub neighbours all day and night - respect is mutual -

as you know, french made the revolution and i am that type of person , i love cyprus and i will not let someone to spoiled my life because he hasn't caracter enough to face his responsabilities - this house we've built is not going to be a nightmare for my holidays - never - and i am sure of one thing, if he wants to have good time" dayly"( that word looks funny written like that !!! ) he better let me have good nights !!! we wont let down until he puts his dogs into his house night time or accept to réeducate them or simply take them for a long walk everyday to make them tired !!!

sylvie, you can build a dog kennel without planning permission as long as it is not over 1.5m high i think. you cannot build within about 1m of your neighbours house or the road. all dogs should be licenced but this seems to only be inforced against the brits and not the tc's. your best chance is probably under planning rules but if your neighbour is a tc don't hold your breath. we had an incident 2 years ago, when a drunken neighbours visitor threw his dog over our wall to sort out our english dogs. our giant schnauzer dealt with the situation and defended her property. we were very angry and complained to the police who just laughed. we now have mega high fencing so this cannot happen ever again. can you not plant something so that it blocks out the neighbour and reduces the noise?
