Looking for a hotel for this Xmas, the usual Xmas Eve to Boxing Day. Have done the Merit but looking for somewhere else this year. Keen to hear how the Majestic is, from anyone who spent last Christmas there or has been at any other time? Thank you

Called in their Tuesday night for a drink there were three couples staying there, not a lot for a big hotel even though the season is coming to an end.

Majestic Hotel overpriced drinks, mediocre food, better places to spend Christmas, Bogaz is really quite and not very festive.

If you want a get-away-from it all and a bit of peace and quiet then the Majestic is O.K. Been there for coffee mornings, and the recent 112 gathering, and last year nearly booked in for Christmas. We could even have takne our dog, BUT for 'im downstairs the fact that smoking was allowed in the dining room was a turn off. Plus there was to be live entertainment which we did not want , killing the 'peace and quiet bit'. Of course if anyone knows of a nice place with just Christmas carols in the background, then I will go there. As to Majestic, I quite like it. As to it being quiet now - Bogaz is '0out of season'

Ship Inn said they were getting lots of Xmas bookings when I was there last month. And a few visiting Brits said they've been there for Xmas several times as it's such a good do.

Spent one night at the Majestic, Bogaz, in mid October having read about place from tourist brochures etc. Rooms OK but they seem to be operating on a shoe string so standards v.disappointing. Breakfast cereals which were exposed were infested with flies. Yuk! Cold meats/cheeses etc were covered though! Nothing going on around that area (except yet more building works) and I guess Xmas period booking would be a complete waste of money. Looks like there's more fun to be had in the Girne area, especially at Ship Inn judging from last couple of posts.
