You can drive right up to the Olive Tree in the small car park at the bottom of the trail that leads all the way up to Buffavento Castle. Simple drive, just take the road (main) up towards Five Fingers Mountain and at the top you will find a restaurant on your left hand side of the road. Just past there (20 mtrs or so) there is what looks like a wide parking place on the right hand side of the road. Drive into that parking place and you will see behind you the road that leads up to Buffavento. I have taken you that way because unless you know that the Buffavento road is there it is not really adviseable to try to turn straight right up into it. Follow that road - good tarmac these days - all the way to the bottom of the Castle track, there are good sign posts along the way as well. The turn off the main road up towards Buffavento is on the right and a bit steep but no problem really, just take it slow. Park under/by the Olive Tree. Take the footpath and go slow, have fu

Yes there are some walks up there but I have never tried them. There is (or was 3 months ago) a notice board in the castle car park explaining them, and their start at least is marked with coloured pegs. To get to Buffavento, head out to and through Catalkoy and when to road splits (left turn to Turtle Beach and Esenteppe) keep right (on the main road) and head up the hill. After several kilometres (near a restaurant on the left which is the only building for miles), Buffavento is signposted to the right. Take this turn and eventually you will reach the castle.

Sunday is not the best day to go. Hunting day, so loads of shooting going on everywhere up in the mountains. Suggest you go any other day - enjoy your walk, it's lovely all around that area. Regards, Ozbey.

Once you have visited Bufavento do not return by direction you came. Continue towards Taskent and first thing you will come across is THE FLAG. You can actually drive into field below the flag for some great photos. Then contunue into Taskent village and visit The Martyrs Museum. Sorry cannot direct you but it is next to CTP party offices. The museum has all the details of the massacre in 1974 and for me is a must see.
