Sheila Depends who you are flying with there's a bag limit as well as weight limit with Pegasus The weights with CTA &TA are usually on the e-ticket varying between 20-25kg depending on ticket value

~Hi smithy We paid an excess of £40.00 at Stansted that was for 4 cases for 4 people. We flew with Pegasus in October this year. If you haven't booked already then maybe you could buy the maximum excess when booking. Might save you some dosh? If the websire doesn't give you instructions then look at, say, Thompson's for case weight restriction, to give you an idea of the maximum weight for handling a case. Sorry I can't remember the weight. jj

My e-ticket (booked 16th Oct 09) with Pegasus states 25kilos. So am I OK with 25k? In the small print it states (on page 2 of print out) from 25th Oct 2009 weight limit of 15kilos on domestic and international flights applies. Hand luggage up to 8kilos max. 1 piece of hold luggage can go free (15k max) and a charge for 2nd piece of hold luggage. Hope this helps bj

jj Many thanks for the info I have e mailed Ankara about flights and about my excess luggage (around 25k) and asked if I could book and pay up front plus my normal case so not a lot extra, but the reply was that you cant pay with Pegasus you have to wait until I get to Ercan then pay the excess when the luggage goes through so a bit confusing many thanks again sheila

Just checked my e ticket for April and yes, its only 15kg for hold baggage, what are they thinking of in Pegasus, if you are going on somewhere or even joining their flights from somewhere else you're going to be overweight when nearly every other airline has 20 or 22kg for hold baggage! Can see a lot of extra cash being collected!! What happens if the bag is 25kg but there are 2 people travelling with one bag!! Will that be underweight for 2? We'll go out with one bag but probably come back with one and 2 lots of hand baggage, can see problems ahead re weight!!

Smithy, I came back from UK on Tuesday and was over my limit. I paid £35 at Birmingham and was not asked to rearrange my luggage. I checked in a case and a small holdall. I flew with Turkish airlines and my limit was 20kg. I was 10kg over but they only charged me for 7kg (£5 per kg over). Hope this helps.

mamachina I am leaving the TRNC so although I am shipping boxes back in a couple of weeks, I will still be here for a couple of months longer, so when I finally leave end of January I will have two suitcases one of which will be the excess baggage which I know will be over the allowance and are aware of that, and are more than willing to pay for the excess all I want to know is can I pre book excess or do I have to wait until I go to Ercan end of January. Liz I e mailed Tom and Ankara they both say its fine to have excess luggage but you cant pay for it prior only on arrival at Ercan. The excess case will probably weigh around 20/23kilos not a lot thanks for the info folks

Beejay, Similar thing happened to us - we booked with Thomas Cook and shortly after we booked they reduced their baggage allowance by 10Kg. However, your allowance is whatever it says on your ticket - you obviously booked before they changed the allowance and they must honour that. If you have a look at their website you can probably confirm this. This reduction in baggage allowance is very common nowadays, a lot of budget airlines don't give you any hold baggage allowance though you are usually given an option to purchase hold/extra baggage allowance. It's best to do this in advance, if possible, as it is usually a lot more expensive to pay at the airport.

Eileen that's what I have been trying to do purchase beforehand for the excess but each Airline says no, Ankara says Pegasus/CTA dont do that, god all I'm asking is to pay for an extra case prior to leaving. Its so simple. Thanks for your help Sheila

Why don't you go into CTA and Pegasus offices in Girne and ask them face to face, they should be able to help. We always book this way now because the tickets are cheaper than booking on line.

Sheila CTA office is down the front past Kibtec & turn left & it's on your left. One trick you may have missed is if your can scrounge a golf bag off someone you are allowed 1 golf bag weighing up to 10 kgs free on top of your 25kgs allowance (it doesn't say it has to have golf clubs etc in it!) I have brought all sorts over that way! Maggie
