residency query again!

Does anyone know if your residency has to follow on or can you re-new after it's expired? Ours runs out while we're in the UK and a lady in the Immigration office in Lefkosia says it's ok we'll get a 90 day visa when we arrive back & then we can re-new, not sure whether to believe her or not! don't want problems when we arrive back.



Also if we let it lapse after 4 years and revert back to 90 day visas would that cause a problem?

Yet again! If in TRNC you cannot renew the stamp until after it has expired though the paper work has to be submitted 3/4 weeks beforehand. If out of TRNC whilst 'temporary visitor visa' has expired, on return you'll get a 90 day stamp on your passport at the airport which is sufficient time to apply for your 'next year' one which will be back dated to commence from the last date of expiry from the previous one. Clear as mud!

I have spoken to a lady who was in a similar position to you today.



Before she went back to the UK she took all her paperwork to police immigration and explained her problem. They accepted the paperwork and told her that when she came back her residency would be waiting for her at Lefkosia. And lo and behold-- IT WAS.

They are liable to change the rules before we wake up tomorrow!!
