We had a great Sunday lunch too! guess where? Guido's. I called ahead to reserve and advise that my friend was a vegetarian, the master himself had prepared a special animal free lunch for her which was delicious and much appreciated. I cannot imagine this happening anywhere else here. I am seriously considering going every Sunday. Lunch, service, price - faultless.

Toots you buggar we knew the requirements. No animal fats,The only animal fats would be the yorkies so aseparate one was made as was a veggie alternative. We dont use animal fats except sunday for the yorkies. I could almost be a vegatarian but I just love our bacon and chessie melts. Also I love my gravy to have a bit of a meat taste with the red wine reduced. Who I am to judge xx

How come AGAIN the thread started as Sunday lunch at Effendis and then is hijacked by the Guido's appreciation society

What the hell is the Guidos clan. Appreciate good food etc, Get real people. Its horses for courses. We will not please everybody but we are sure as hell we please our loyal clients. This is a free democratic board everybody can say what they have experienced. Now I can tell you I love Efendi . I did not hijacked this thread x

As i read it , the topic said " Fantastic Sunday Lunch " surely innocent enough , what people write in response is their business , like it or not Guido's is here to stay , as long as people continue to frequent their Bistro and enjoy their food and hospitality you are going to get the reviews , whether you like it or not . Me, i visit a couple of times each time i come to NC , and thoroughly enjoy the experience , even though i have to travel 90mins to get there . Guido's Clan ?? no , i am not related to Lilli or Guido , But i am a Guido's Patron !! .

Have a nice day , Simbas

Hi aripointer , are you asking Lilli not to respond to a compliments paid about Guido's ? Surely it's rude not to respond and thank that person , but then thats just my opinion .

Have a good day , Simbas

Yes well said Simbas, Guido and Lilli.

This is the problem with some people. They cannot stand someone else's sucess and popularity. It is also bullying at the highest level. They keep having a dig in the hope that they can stop others from posting.

It's not working.....

People like Guidos (a lot) and post about it (a lot). Get over it!!!!!

Why dont you give it a try instead of winging on at every opportunity. You never know you make like it (a lot)

Must say Punjab is fantastic at 17tl and so is Mambo's sunday lunch, best two that I can recommend at the moment and not just for the price but for quality food. Please dont reply with any recommendations as I have tried most places on the west side of Girne, and yes believe it or not including Guido's. Perhaps the same people that go there all the time should venture further afield its a big world beyond Alsancak.

Message 19.

Hi Simbas.

No I am not saying Guidos should respond to compliments regarding their own restaurant.

When reading reviews on other restaurants, many times Lilli will chip in promoting her restaurant in one way or another.

Just a point. Perhaps she has a ficticious ghost writer doing her postings for her on this board?

Simbas,

spoken like a true cyprus 44 moderator ( shoot straight from the hip)

Guido and lilli are people of good faith (as the cypriots say "a clean heart")

The cuisine is impeccable, and the hospitality genuine. I know where I want to spend any shekels I have left on a Sunday.

they dont need to advertise1

Efendis, as I understand it is restaurant of the highest repute.

I know that they contribute much to local charitable causes.

I for one will be trying their Sunday lunch menu on my next visit to the Trnc.

Restaurants OF SUCH HIGH REPUTE have no need to advertise. Their clients are largely by reccomendation.

I await my visit with baited breath!!

Guido, you have done nothing to me and I don't have a problem with your success. You say if I don't like it read something else. That is the problem, I tried to read something else and often do only to find after a couple of messages, Guido's crops up time after time. That is the point I was trying to make, not knock you personally

I wish you all theluck in the world and Im so pleaaed to have had you as a customer. You brought a bit of special magic as you gave me challenges I love that. John no bad feelings love. I try to ask customers not to post but its thier choice but I am too polite not to respond to them. Never do I start the thread. John we live in a very small comunity we all know each other. I oonly want us to get on and know we are there for each other. I love Ruth and Tony so much as they will tell you I wish them all the luck they deserve. They are god customers to me. => Almost the same great oneliner as in another thread, vincent1. So I'd best reply with my same oneliner also: as long as you don't come there I'm fine. Sigh. What a boring man you are. You advertise in your profile you are divorced, eh? I wonder why. Or.., do I wonder?

RE msg 36, vincent1: (...) I thought* you were a cleverclogs ! (...)

=> vincent1, you posted 53 times when I write this. Have you counted how many of your messages are about or against me? Is this really the best you can do? You seem to have a serious problem. Why don't you try to write something that might interest more than zero board members?

P.S. I'm glad that you have thought* this time. There is some progress and so there's hope one day you write an interesting message. Keep trying.

You really are a boring man. Have a trawl through your own posts. Most of them are full of malice against board members. Do try and get out more.

I'm just off to Heathrow en route to Amsterdam for business. Can you recommend any opium dens or houses of ill repute in your beloved capital ? Enjoy your day !
