Car Insurance and use

I have just purchased a car in Southern Cyprus. The car is a re registered British car (South Cyprus plates) which is now taxed an insured on a regular basis in the South.

The reason for the message is to find out there are any implications if the car can be used in the North. Does anyone have any idea if the car can be registered in the south, taxed in the south, insured for both south and north?

If not can it be re registered in the North etc,costs etc.

i suppose its where you live most ?



if you live north surely you would have to pay north im port duty and licence ....if you visit north for short periods i would think border insurance will cover you

Customs had a crack down a few months ago on South reg cars, mainly if you live in North you can't keep a car here from South, but if you live mainly in South it should be ok if it is registered there. You know what it is like here, horses for courses.

If you live in the North your south registered car will not be welcome for a long stay

I know a man who's south reg 4x4went merrily North to south

He spent his winters in the North and summers in the uK

Customs took the car from his home in the North into protective custody fined him and he had to take it south the 4by 4 now resides in the uk as it was not allowed into the North again be warned
