| Forecasters warned night-time temperatures could fall as low as -5C (23 F) on high ground over the next two days, with snow expected to hit northern England and Scotland later in the week. Temperatures in London and the south are expected to fall to around 1-2C overnight from highs of 6C, but with wind and rain. The forecast comes after a weekend of high winds and heavy rain across the country which saw flash floods hit many parts including Yorkshire and Devon, where water levels reached around four feet (1.2 metres). |
