Don't know if this helps as it's not really what you asked but i know of some families(Turkish)who don't send their children to school as they can't afford it. They have never been visited by the "school board". So maybe it will be ok to home school your children as no-one checks up. Have you asked at the British Residents Society? They may know.

Bertil and Felicity Wedin schooled all four of their chidren at home. It is not against the law to do so. Bertil has his own program on Bayrak radio, or did have. I no longer listen.

Strange that, considering I went to school with his two daughters.

The two daughters were bridesmaids at my son's wedding in 1986, and at that time were schooled at home!

wouldnt a few hours tuition per week almost cost the same as if not more than a private school?

public schools are free. The turk maarif college is of a very high standard, even if it is only half day and its free.

levent schools and yakin dogu school in Nicosia cost something like 1600 pounds per year including service bus and lunches. That comes to something like 500 tl per month for 8 months.

Surely it would cost you more with privates? Im tutoring a girl who will sit English as a first language for her A levels. She will sit 2 papers and needs to read 50 stories,a novel by shakespeare and I dont know how many poems. We are finding 5 hours a week is nearly not enough...
