That is a bit short notice, could the banks not have issued a statement in the TRNC official gazette sister paper the Cyprus Today newspaper and let their clients know in advance of the change? I know your just the messenger Linda, but surely something should have been put together in advance by the head of the customer service departments of all banks.

Like I said Linda you are only the messenger and we are all grateful for the release of this information, it is just a shame that your employer did not think to give it's clients more notice.

This is taken from the Garanti bank website.

Bills and coins sporting the names Türk Lirası and Kuruş have been redesigned. Their dimensions have been changed to prevent confusion and advanced security features have also been added. The new currency (designated "TL") will start circulating as of 1 January 2009. The "old" new Turkish lira ("YTL") bills and coins will circulate concurrently with these until the end of 2009 and will cease to be current as of 1 January 2010.

Oh well,

We'll all be back to trading/swapping sweets and boxes of matches again when there's no small change
