I have a good friend in Spain who works for their version of KAR. It is sadly the sme there. Ex pats having to go back to the UK for various reasons and cant afford or are unable to take the dogs back with them. Taken on for the kindness that we offer these otherwise unwanted animals its so sad for the owners and the dogs.

I know that people are quick to be critical of the ex pats who return to UK and cant for one reason or another take their pets back with them, saying that they should never have taken them on if they no intention of keeping them. I for one, think that the love and kindness that is shown to a dog for however long an amount of time is better than for the poor thing to have never known love and affection at all. No-one knows what is just around the corner and we can only do our best here and now for these animals.

I know what you mean, but I think my friend has the best solution. She sees the pack of strays and feeds them. She only feeds them on the waste ground "up the road" if they try to follow her home home she shoos them away. I really think that this is the best policy if you cant absolutely guarantee that the dog is for life.

Lillie, I am not asking this to build up your hopes but it may be helpful to tell the folks something about DYlan even if you have already done so before. There will be others like me who cannot remember!!! It is my age you know!!
