Please can someone advise where I might get a definitive answer because I have received conflicting information. I have a Peugot 206cc (1.6) that I have had from new since 2005. It will be almost 5 years old when I move over next year. Some have said that because it is older than 3 years I cannot bring it whereas others have said that I can as I am the only registered owner but better to wait until it is 5 years old. I really don't want to sell this as it is still like new with only 14,000 miles on the clock. If I can bring it over what would I expect to pay for the import duty/taxes?

to my knowledge, the law is that the car should not be older than 3 years /so it was in 2006).o So if anyone gets an car older than 3 years into TRNC than I consider him lucky.. Best is to check with TRNC customs officers to sort out in advance.

henrik the three years old applies to cars under three years and owned less than 3 years The question mark is on 3-5 year old cars if you have had them from new can you bring them in? If you have a 1999 car that you've had since 2004 i.e you've owned it for five years you can bring it in or a 2003 as my wife's was no problem to import this year

Judy - I brought my car over recently. It is registered in March 2005 and I bought it in August 2008. No problem since it less than 5 years old. I went to the custom house in Lefkosa and they calculated the import duties etc. I suggest that you telephone Mr Ozner Agit in the custom department on 0542 853 0977. The import duty is calculated on engine size - see http://www.e-kktc.com/forms/printmenu.php?lan=en&id=3352 The VAT is calculated from the valuation in Glasses guide.
