Thanks to all but I think most of these requests are catered for ? Sangria Lemar, Pigs at the pork shop opposite Starlings, knicker elastic at any wool shop or maybe buy some new ones ! and citizens advice this forum or the usual gossip ! I was hoping for something enlightening ?? ie a small IKEA maybe ?

Highly unlikely, of course (in fact, imposible) but I'd bet a Marks & Spencer would prove very popular - especially for knickers

The best ham is at Bells, even in the UK it would be very hard to beat. And it is real slices of gammon - not this compressed and reshaped rubbish. They also sell jam doughnuts, albeit frozen.

Re:ham - there is ham at the Pork shop - though I found it said bacon on the label - when opened it was thick juicy slices of real ham - but whether that was just serendipitous I dont know! Back to what to find in a shop - difficult - as eventually one seems to find everything needed SOMEWHERE even if it means miles trekking from place to place! The really nice yoghurt you get in the south?? - and a small M & S would be great! Decent writing paper! Lots of books!

RE msg 11. Where in Bells is the ham?. Looked around most of the stuff but not noticed any ham. I like their blackpudding and pies. Even their own brand pies are good. RE msg 26. I've seen Haywards pickled onions in Starling.

Bells stored the ham in Fridges near the counter where you pay. Or they did last time I was in there. I do agree that the ham is excellent.

I'd definitely go with Supermaids, some cheaper clothes basically! And yes, Ikea-esque house products. Things that might not be the most amazing quality, and probably won't last you for the next 50 years, but for anyone that hasn't got loads of money, affordable. Good luck if you do it.

The one thing that still isn't available here is Birds Eye peas. There are a few Birds Eye ready meals sold here now, so why not the peas? Sorry to say that IMO there are none as good as Birds Eye. I will ask at Supreme if they will be able to import them? Message 32 Llli Supreme & Lemar were stocking some Peters Pies - at a price.

the problem with importing to the TRNC is costs are excessive, firstly everything has to go to mersin first and then be transfered to famagusta, on average this adds $2500 costs to a 20foot container, but saying that wholesalers are now reducing there margins so the goods can be on the shelves cheaper and thus be sold quicker, thats a fairly simple policy and 'they' are starting to get their heads around it !!! Terrys chocolates oranges, every where not just Tempo (10tl each)
