I was surprised to see a few Robin Red breasts in my garden recently in Lapta. Is this normal for the area? They looked thin but were clearly Robins. It surprised me but I know little about birds. My neighbor was also a tad surprised.

I went to that museum many years ago. The natural history part was a bit gruesome, the leaflet stated that it was full of "died" animals! I remember the snakes in jars and the moth eaten displays of badly stuffed animals including a 5 legged lamb!!

Smithy/Msg3: I think you mean 'Coal Tits' - they're a bit larger than 'Blue Tits'. I've lived in Cyprus a long time and never seen 'Blue Tits'. 'Gold Finches' are around now, but I've never seen 'Bull Finches' on the island. We also have a 'Robin Redbreast' in our garden - usually, you only see one male, as they're very territorial!

This song, as I remember it, comes to mind, when I see it in the garden;'When the red, red robin comes bob bob bobing along.... (or something like that)

Excerpt from my novel: 'The Remittance Man's Roots' :- On the morning of the funeral, the churchyard resembled a Christmas card snow scene. Once inside the church, I found myself standing next to an elderly lady wearing a fox-fur stole. She had travelled up from Folkestone for the funeral, but I had never met her before in my life. Shafts of sunlight were beaming through the stained glass windows, directly illuminating the coffin. Suddenly, a little ‘Robin Redbreast’ appeared. It was flitting around inside the church, alighting now and then on the coffin. “The Robin was your mother’s favourite little bird!” the old lady whispered in my ear. “This very same manifestation happened while I was at your mother’s funeral – I do believe it is, indeed, her spirit!” As the rear door of the hearse was slammed shut and the long, sombre, black Daimler departed for the crematorium, the utter finality of father's death suddenly struck me. Cont'd....

Cont'd from Msg 12:- At the wake, which was held in a rather grand hotel nearby, others that had attended both my parents’ funerals were commenting on the strange, coincidental phenomena of the Robins.
