| There is an unoccupied property on the plot next to our house, we understand from our near neighbours that it was built illegally, without permission, no proper foundations, no electricity supply, the only access to it is a donkey path beneath our front terrace, approx five feet wide, which takes it dangerously close to the edge of the ravine. Not only is the building itself an eyesore but the weeds in the garden are almost as tall as me and are beginning to force themselves under the dividing fencing, we are due out there again next week and wondered if anyone could please advise if there is anywhere we can go to try to sort this out, we are afraid that because of the state of this place it will remain empty and then fall into disrepair. | There are some almost completed villas and bungalows next to our complex. they have been like this for 2 or more years. Does anyone know how you can find out why they have been left and does the government ever auction them off. Is it always because they were built without planning permission? Could the builder just have gone bankrupt, if they have been bought off plan, it wouldn't take a lot of money to finish them off. Anybody know how I can find out the story behind them. | Thank you Karen & Ismet for your replies, next time I am out in Cyprus I will make enquiries at the local Belediye. Ismet forgive my ignorance but what is the kaymakamlik and where will I find it? The butlers wife |

| The property next to us has been rented out, the last occupants left in September and it has been left in a dreadful state, rubbish strewn all over the garden etc. We have been told the owner lives in Famagusta but have no idea who he is, would the Belediyre be able to trace him and would they have the authority to make him clean the place up. |
