You have the right due to EU law to work there without problems.

Living in TRNC might affect your "employability" due to the view point of many residents in the south which is a sad & different thing and EU legislation might view that as discrimination in your favour.

I do not know how living in North Cyprus might affect what you are paid, if you have taxes & insurances to pay etc. My suggestion is to try to avoid becoming part of the "black" labour economy on either side.

Hi there Sazna,

I went to get a position in the "Darkside" last year & even though i too am an expat & UK passport, I was told I must first comply with the following to be eligable:

1. Must have a perminant residence address in the Republic

2. Have letter from Employer stating he will employ you

3. Be registered with the employment agency

It was a paper chase, much like the TRNC... & as you know some people over there are not as helpful as one would wish, took me ages to get everything sorted

Hope that gives you a little encouragement of what to expect

re msg 1

You can work for someone or be self-employed

As long as you are an EU citizen one can legally work in the RoC

You need an address and a national insurance number - you need to get the Nat ins number BEFORE you can register as a resident

Ralfep: I believe the regulations have now changed due to pressure by the EU. If you are an EU citizen, you can live in TRNC and work in the south.
