An Indonesian restaurant. On the menu should be (spicy) specialties from several islands (Java, Sumatra etc). We had many of them in Holland, mainly in The Hague and Amsterdam. One of the few things I miss here.

It would be great to have a really good Italian Restaurant in the Ozankoy area. Earlier this year one opened next to Wash and Go right on the main road.Perfect food, lousy location resulting in it's closure. There are numerous site opportunities with a good customer catchment area. Doug

RE msg 12, kaiserphil: (...) Indonesian. Sounds like I should be holidaying in the Netherlands for a change. (...) => Don't rub it in! I envy you! It's the best food in and from East Asia, although the North Vietnamese specialty "rice&rice-if-available" is said to be very good also. If I order a take-away Indonesian meal in Amsterdam, could you pick it up for me..? (Collect it at the sign: "Afhalen").

littlejohn - as you know (I would think) my answer was a bit tongue in cheek! However, I would like to make some comment on this thread. It was a very good idea, I think, to ask people what type of restaurant they would like to see in NC. Now, I must be honest and say that we have a holiday home over there and so the 'kebab' meals out do not wear thin after a few weeks, although, having said that, when we were there last October, it was getting a little monotonous. But, you see the response? Nearly all of those that have posted want something from home, whether its Subway sandwiches or Pie & Mash. A Pie & Mash shop - for God's sake, why not a Manzie's jellied eel Emporium? I thought Brits wanted to get away - not look for a home-from-home.

A salad bar restaurant with a huge choice of salad, sauces & fillings where you have a huge plate and can fill it up & have a healthy lunch or take away service in the Girne area would be good! Does anyone go to the casinos for free dinners? Jasmine Court is the best, big restaurant seperate from the casino, dinner served 6.30pm-9pm amazing fresh delicious food, two choices of soup, rice, meat & fish dishes & huge salad buffet, different types of bread, huge dessert selection & waiters serve you alcohol or soft drinks to the table! Then you can play 10 lira on the slot machines while you are drinking tea or cofffee & ask for cigarettes, Marlboro lights and other brands and lighters also given free! Other places that do a decent free dinner are Merit and Mercure casino we go at least once a week for a great free meal out! We have eaten at Jasmine court casino 3 times this wk! Leaving the island soon so making the most of it!!! Try it & you may even be lucky after dinner!!! ;0)

Jeannie, Does that mean that, for example, there shouldn't be any Italian restaurants in Australia, because Italian tourists and Italian immigrants might want to eat there? Do you think Chinese people, who live all over the world, stop eating Chinese once they leave China? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to eat "English" food all the time, but I wouldn't mind having the choice, once and a while.
