The Dome is a very nice old fashioned hotel, and old being the optimum word, its rated four star but is more like a three, although it could do with a bit of tlc its our favourite hotel in kyrenia for location and comfort at a reasonable price, the rooms with a sea view are great if you can afford the extra, the staff are helpful and friendly as are most Turkish Cypriots,it has a nice pool but the location is the best feature two minutes from the old harbour.

My wife and I stayed at the Dome once last year and we both thoroughly loved it. Mehmet and the rest of the staff were superb. The hotel itself is in need of re-furbishment but not so much so that you would be put off by this. It had a faded beauty about it. The swimming pools were brilliant as were the brandy sours. We did not eat there much preferring as we did to explore Girne in search of evening meals, but the breakfasts were good, the all day bar menu was excellent and as I said earlier the staff could not do enough to help. The Dome is without doubt our favourite Cyprus hotel and we are both looking forward hugely to our next visit.

Paul and Tammie have hit the right mark – the Dome Hotel in Kyrenia is a hotel with a history, and has a gentle, unhurried atmosphere as a result. The recent renovations have much improved the previously dated décor, and the pianist who played in the bar last time I dropped in for a drink was really rather good! The place reminds me of The (old) Savoy Hotel in Madeira; a grand old dame of a hotel where you can soak up the sun on the terraces, and where everything stops for tea! There are some pictures of the hotel at this web site: http://www.dome-cyprus.com

Dear me, Kyreniachap, you make the Dome sound very gentile! It’s not - if you don’t want it to be... There’s plenty to do here without even stepping out the door. The hotel has a swimming pool and a natural sea water rock pool, so you don’t have to battle the waves to enjoy the Mediterranean waters. The new fitness centre and sauna are nicely equipped, and if you like a flutter, there is a casino at the Dome Hotel too. Are you tempted, Brenda?

I think Dome has the highest repeat clients The location is perfect. 2 min walk to Kyrenia Harbouar and Kyrenia Castle. Car park for your car hire is good.

Many thanks for the information - I think it will suit my husband and I very well as we are looking for a good hotel in the centre of Kyrenia, with access to some activities if we want them! I'm also glad we can park our hire car at the Dome Hotel, as often European city hotels have no car parks and my husband hates driving around looking for a parking space at home, let alone on holiday. With thanks again, Brenda Bird

Think you've made the right choice, Brenda. My favourite day out with UK friends who come to visit North Cyprus is a morning at Kyrenia Castle and the Shipwreck Museum, followed by a fresh fish lunch at the harbour, then a little light shopping! If you stay at The Dome, all this is right on your doorstep – literally.
