Tend to agree withTuttut. How ridiculous, and a bit naughty opening virtuallly next door.

But at the end of the day I suppose competition is good for the punter.

Personally I think there are ample bars and Restaurants her in TRNC. I think the choice is very good.

When you consider the amount of people here especially during the winter months, and also the general shortage of money. What chance do most of the places have of surviving.

And the slice of the cake is getting smaller and smaller for the exsisting ones.

There should be some sort of control over the amount of Establishments. other wise most of them will struggle to survive.

Really? So the least amount of competition will give the best competition/prices and encourage new people/investors into the market place? Interesting

Hi Cornish,

You are absolutely right. The more the merrier and may the best man succeed.

BTW Lobb is a good Janner name.

All part of the Cypriot cunning business model, if a business looks like it might be making money then surely another doing exactly the same thing next door must be just as successful. Right?

Cornish , as I said in my thread, Good for the punter. But not so good if your they guy next door who,s invested a large amount of capital.

I simply think that people should try to come up with somthing a bit more original.

At this rate there will be as many Indian Restaurants as in the Balti triangle.

And very few customers to support them.

johhny there are very few customers all around. I wish them all the luck in the world. They have a very good reputation so maybe moving this side is not a bad move xx

Al Shaheen also do great European food, their lamb shank on the European menu is wonderful! They also manage to fill the restaurant east of Girne most Saturday evenings, and their Sunday lunch is excellent value too. Competition is a good thing, personal taste is individual, some love Punjab some don't and I am sure the same is true of Al Shaheen, but give them a chance, don't knock it before you try it.

Good luck to Imtiaz, Ashraf and Abbas.

I still think that a good chinese should open Lapta end of the Island.

A bit of compertition does not hurt anyone and yes there is a variety around the Island but if you want a take away or home delivery all there is are Pizza or Indians!!.

I do wish them well in there business

What we need on the West side is, a good Thai restaurant serving authentic food.

Sorry Baba - a chinese would be VERY popular with ex-pats - IMO certainly more a part of the 'British' cuisine than Thai, which can be a bit of a niche market. Do you see a Thai restaurant in nearly every town centre? - nope. But I can bet that most towns (and villages) in the UK can boast at least one chinky.

Long live Peking duck with Hoisin Sauce! Long live Chinese Spring rolls with beansprouts and sweet and sour!. Long live Dim Sum and potsticker dumplings!

Rant over. Must go and buy some duck breasts.

Here, here... a DECENT Chinese restaurant and take away would definitely get my vote... Love Thai food - but more for a special occasion than a regular take out!!!

Bring on the Chinese!!!
