| I think I saw a few at Amanda's Auction - should be cheap, as it costs 'an arm and a leg' to switch on any electrical appliance in TRNC. Halogen heaters are propably the cheapest to run - but only if you sit nearly on top of them! |

| I have 3 oil filled rads, supplementary heaters to the main log/gas fire. A mix of Arcelik and Beko which I have used during the last 18 months. They are on timers, one in the spare bedroom to keep bedding and summer clothes wardrobes aired, in the music studio and in the kitchen. The water immersion heater is also on a timer. My elec bills are no higher than in than in summer when the aircon and pool pumps are working hard so I would not worry too much about the scare stories of huge bills unless you use them 24/7. Did try the halogen heaters and personally I think they are useless, a complete con unless you are prepared to sit on top of it and not move around. I do however have a 3 bar radiant quartz heater on the wall in Diana's bathroom and that cooks it up nicely for baths and showers. My advice would be to pay a little extra for the Arcelik 3KW version that has a blower fan in it, the warm up time in a room is cut by 3/4 for little extra initial cost. best regards TonyE |
