Last time I was in Kyrenia, I noticed an ING Direct bank. Does anyone know if this can be used to access a UK ING Direct account to make deposits and withdrawals? Thanks

I asked the same question about a year ago and at that time the answer was unfortunately "No" The rep there spoke very good English so when you are next passing pop in and ask again and maybe things will have changed?

Consider the same similarity as between HSBC UK and HSBC Turkey. Two different entities.

Thank you for your answers, and take your point, Ismet. I've now written to ING UK and will let you know if they can suggest anything.

As far as I know ING is a Dutch company. I made the same inquiry as in msg 1 and got the answer that "ING Holland and ING Turkey had nothing to do with each other - although ING Turkey was owned by ING Holland and worked under the same umbrella". The result: it has no advantage to have a ING Turkey account (see msg 3).

ING bought Oyak bank and have rebranded them ING. That is all. I doubt there is any integration of systems/accounts.

They really are bloody awful in the UK so I can't see them being any use at all in TRNC.

Re message 7

Thank you Michelle. That would be appreciated. Isn't it strange how these banks can be branded but apparently have no link to the internationally recognised companies.

The statement received from ING by Hans only makes things stranger: "ING Holland and ING Turkey had nothing to do with each other - although ING Turkey was owned by ING Holland and worked under the same umbrella"

I think the best integration I have seen is with HSBC. If you have an account with HSBC in UK and also an account with HSBC anywhere else, e.g. Turkey or TRNC, then if you have a Premier account in the same name you can see both account in the "Global View" when you log on, and also transfer money between the accounts for free and more or less instantly.

ref. msg. 10

If you have sufficient money to have a Premier account in one country, you can have a Premier account in another country too without the need for a substantial deposit in the second country.

Michelle

They refused to accept that I had taken a 12 month deposit at a much higher rate than they said and when I came to cash it in because of that they took 3-4 weeks to pay me out. Another bank paying me back the same week took 2 days. It all was going back into the same account from whence it came!
