You would need to be mad to go swimming just now unless of course you were wearing a wet suit.

Definitely no swimming for me until at least June!

New Year's day - Millenium 2000 - friends swam in sea at Karpaz. Have photos. to prove it!

Used to know a woman who swam until Nov. in the sea at Thurso, Caithness! Now that is cold!

If you keep doing it like crofter, it is bearable (they say, though I don't)

It's just goose grease in the Irish Sea on Boxing day, Groomsport Co. Down.

An old Uncle of mine has done it for the last 45 years and intends to swim again this year. He is now 89.

He has also run the London Marathan 2000, 2001 & 2002 Belfast Marathan 20 times.

All for Marie Curie.

Is there some event organised? When I was in the Lake District years ago, the council used to organise a charity dip in Windermere Lake on New Years Day - good fun, lots of fancy dress, newspaper publicity, good way of raising money for local needs. If anyone decides to organise, I'll happily cheer you all on!!!
