There is a lot to read on this board about "Children in Need". If all almost 8000 board members had given 1 (one!) Turkish Lira, Teresa could have bought a whole shop with presents for "Children in Need". The reality is that she is still looking for eight more people who want to pay a maximum of 20 TL to buy a present for Turkish (Cypriot) children in Nicosia. You should see how they live in absolute poverty in the poor areas of the TRNC capital.

Come on, some expats (any nationality) will visit Guido's Bistro tomorrow to donate their bit (worth about 4 Efes') and help give these children a present at the end of this year - something they didn't get from their parents this year, because they just don't have the money. Come on, find your wallet!

Back to the top - until all 190 children can have a present. Eight presents missing still.

Write your name in this thread and pay your 20 TL at Guido's Bistro, so Teresa Cefa and Liz Spina (the organisers) know how many presents for "Children in Need" they are still short!

Teatime (msg 4): (...) DC. I was under the impression the total had been reached! (...)

=> I spoke to Liz Spina an hour ago or so and she gave me the latest score: 9 presents short. Which I made eight. Come on, members!

Going to church this week? First drop 20 TL for "Children in Need" at Guido's Bistro and feel a whole lot better when you talk to your Lord. He knows about poverty.

Hey! Great! It's a rough campaign, but it seems to work! (Teresa and Liz are much too nice to write the rude/rough texts I write..., well, my reputation on this board can't be damaged...) Who is next?

I just received an email from a board member who asked to respect his privacy. He wrote: "This is just to say that I left an envelope with 250tl at Guidos - enough for 12 kids. I don't want to be identified, but you are welcome to post "one anonymous donor (not a business - just a pensioner)" if you think it will shame (or encourage) others into giving."

Time for me to apologise to the people who supported the "Secret Santa" action already. This thread is not aimed at you of course!
