Following on from Geoff & Mary's case at Girne Court today. I am due at court, with others, in Girne tomorrow at 9am. I expect it to be yet another wasted day in my life here. It seems to be Brits week at the Girne Court. Funny about the timing isn't it? I was only contacted about this court attendance, this afternoon at around 4pm. Now call me silly, but what would have happened if I'd been away on holiday in the Karpas or even Turkey, this week & not available? Ismet I'd be interested to hear your views on this. My advocate says they were only informed today by the Court. I'm sceptical to say the least. Is this really likely? I was told that if I didn't attend, then the judge might throw out the case.

Hi J Good luck tomorrow. We saw you earlier in press with your story plus also know Mike from him going to Pia Bella. We have learnt a lot by spending 6 hours today with Geoff & Mary and those that did not turn out have missed out in many ways in seeing how the legal system does not work at the sharp end. I hope they all do not seek help later!!! We would come down for you but know it is not just you and better half ( B if my memory is right)but a group from your site. For those that do not know do you have a reference point to read your case, again from memory do you go back several years and connected to a Mr R currently residing at HMP. Please post your results and if you do need rent a mob at any stage boss & I are always available. Best wishes David

msg 2: do not deride those expats that did not "turn up" today. I, like many others, I am sure, would have been there but for prior commitments. Your comment "I hope that they all don't seek help later!!!" implies that you would not support, and hope that others would not support, any other expat that finds him/herself in a like predicament. Unless they attended your "rent a mob" today. Personally I would not want support from someone so shallow minded. Tony

msg 3 I am sorry you do not get the point. There are regular calls for help from people in the community and unless there are beer and sandwiches on offer they do not turn out. If you cannot see my ironic comments for what they are then you are not the person I thought you were on this community. I try my best to turn out at every event where support is required, Sunday mornings, early mornings, blazing sun in Lefkosa etc and it is comments like yours that really make me think it is not worth the effort. Perhaps come along to Pia Bella on a Tuesday and have a chat about the problems that people are experiencing here.

I would have been there had I been in NC. I'm sure the same goes for a lot of others.

Fortunately, I do not need any supporters. I'm a plaintiff & not a defendant, unlike Geoff & Mary. I do know them btw. I'd simply like to hear Ismet's views about the specific questions that I've asked, but it looks like he won't be online tonight. Thanks for your message David. I will provide feedback is there is any result. I somehow doubt if there will be tomorrow. A few of us, at our site, have issues with another party other than GJR. Earlier builds, with a different set of problems. Trust me David, we are going nowhere. After nearly 8 yrs waiting for a kocan, all we want is compensation, in lieu of kocan. This case has now dragged on since 2005 & there must be closure.

Jenny, I truly wish we could all go to a central point and do damage to the legal system here. We are so desperate that last week we hawked our story around everybody that is anybody in Lefkosa, President down over. The next is a big expose in the Turkish press in early January. It is so sad, in my view that some people sit with there heads in the sand saying it will not happen to me or I'm all right Jack. Personal between me and Jenny - was out at Tatlisu last week with AM and saw the hotel at the end of their street - back to all, this is a situation where the builders have simply taken the proverbial with the buyers. Take your money and then make a mockery of the site building a monstrosity where the family will live. Me, I will continue mocking those who want others to help them but are not prepared to help others. Whatever jenny, baz and co good luck.

Scruff (msg. 1) Sorry to keep you waiting. We had some guests tonight and after they left me and my wife had to go through some papers together. So here I am after 1 o'clock in the morning. To answer your question: normally a hearing day is fixed many weeks in advance but I do know the president of the district court very well and he is likely to call the advocate and tell him/her that he will hear it tomorrow. Sometimes he exerts too much pressure on the parties involved but at least he is known to get the cases moving and bring them to a speedy conclusion. Would he cancel your case if you did not turn up? He might do just that unless he is convinced that you had a very good reason for not attending. He has his plusses and minuses bu I like him. ismet

Message4 Cyprusishome, In all fairness to Message 3 Minertor (you were not the person I thought you were in this community) I know he had a previous engagement and he asked me not to say anything. But I know where he was as do some of the other nurses and he is indeed a stalwart of the community and is a very caring kind person as is his wife. He was supporting someone in a different way who needed help as much as Geoff and Mary who incidentally I wish well and hope their nightmare ends soon, as I am sure Minertor does as well. Chris

Good Luck Scruff. I think we should all stick together as a community on this and stop the "Little" bickering between ourselves. Some people have their Kocan, some do not. Some have lost a lot of money and no house to show for it etc, etc. Rogue builders, the TRNC legal system needs to start to get their act together on this to start the economy going again and gain the trust of International buyers/investors in the TRNC.

minertor, Sometimes my passion does effect my typing fingers and they make personal comments that have no place here. Please accept my apologise for directing my frustration at you. That said, my beer and sandwiches quote does stand. I went to the Dome yesterday and there they were, getting drunk on free booze and could not even stay quiet for the 5 minutes of the host's speech. More about that on that thread. tatlisu4me. Yes we got to stick together but please, everyone, if there is a call for support please turn out as this and any other government will not listen to a load of ramblings on the internet. Positive action is the only thing that works. It is no hardship to stand or walk here for an hour or two and you are alongside fellow sufferers so lots of sharing and learning.
