When i was a little girl, i lived with my grandma for a while. Every morning she would make me an enormous bowl of lumpy nasty porridge. When she left the room, i would nip out to the back yard with my bowl, and tip it over the neighbours fence, (tried the bin once, but she found it and told me off). A few months of this went by, when one day the neighbour called around and asked me and my grandma to come over. We went over and she promptly showed us this ENORMOUS pile of old mouldy porridge that had accumalated in her garden...there are no words to describe this disgusting stinky mess...my arse was tanned soo hard i couldn't sit down for a week...needless to say, the mere idea of porridge never fails to turn my stomache! eeewww!! Anyway, so sorry pipie, i have no idea where you can find porridge... DD

Not seen any North of the green line but if you happen across to the Dark Side you can buy Oats in big bags that make lovely porridge. We have just used up our last lot from last year so can't even let you have some. Try a wander through and nip into the Debenhams food hall, they had some there last year.

I think it is called yufka in Turkish and have bought it in Istanbul long ago. Have each morning in winter, with honey and milk. Very good for you, and delicious.

For all you porridge lovers. DO NOT BUY YUFKA. Instead, purchase Yulaf Ezmesi.( Turkish brand name Eti). Available everywhere. Lemar, Tempo et al. I like mine with Demerara Sugar and milk.

Supreme were selling Scott Porridge Oats recently. I like mine made with milk, I then mash in a banana, stir in a little bit of honey and have greek yoghurt on the side (if I have any). Just finished a bowlful minus the yoghurt. I do like the Morning Flake ones the best, as Chinaeyes says you can buy them in Carrefour. As someone else mentioned Bells sell 2kg bags at a good price if you can't/don't go South.

yorgozlu Was told I must avoid wheat and told oats are NOT made from wheat, they are made from oats, which is grain, which has some relation to wheat, but its not the same product. (Dont you think that picture on Eti's Lifalif box looks like wheat?). And told most people with wheat allergies are actually allergic to gluten, which is a protein in wheat. there is no gluten in oats, but on the box it says gluten icerir (doesnt that mean its has gluten inside?
