Hi I have moved out of my apt on Christmas day and took a reading from the meter, do I just go to Kibtec tomorrow with the reading and the name of the new owners which is on my Contract and they take it from there, I dont want the new owners cut off but they are quite content to let me do it and continue to just pay the bills, I think it should be changed over to their names a.s.a.p Do I need anything else before going to Kibtec any info please Sheila

i assume it will like a normal name change you take all your paperwork orginal and copys inc your passport for the person whos name its going into, take a ticket from the machine the bottom button they will go through what paper you have got and what they want if you have everything need they send you upstairs to change the computor details then its back down to the same person where you pay the depoist (mine 279TL) then thats it done hope that helps

Sheila, Did you put down a deposit on the electric meter when you moved into your apartment? If so, you can claim it back as we did when we moved from our last property however it will take about a month before you get the refund so would suggest you start straight away. Better in your pocket than theirs!!

Sheila, it used to be that Kibtec insisted that the person taking over the meter has to attend the office in person to get the name changed, like my 86 year-od TC neighbour. Mind you, that was 3 years ago, so may have changed by now.

Hi , another question if the electricity has been turned off, when the new owner goes to the electricity place, how long does it take for it to be turned back on again? Thanks

I am sit here waiting for them to come with me to Kibtec to change the names, and yes I did leave a deposit but was told I had to have my receipt to get it back, but after 5 years I cant find it, so hopefully they will look it up on the computer and give it to me, maybe I can give a friends name to collect it as I will be leaving on the 30th Jan so if its later than that dont want it going to the new owners. I didn't have the electric/water/digiturk disconnected as they wanted it all left on but keep telling them I want it changed or I will have it all turned off

Sheila, I think they are hoping that you have either a) lost your receipt or b) can't be bothered with going through the process of claiming it back. Take a couple of old bills and your passport, you can only try. They won't give the money to the new owners, you have to go and claim it and if you don't then they have just earned some easy money, which is what they hope to do most times

Can't help with the translation for you Sheila but maybe some one else can if we bring it back to the top. Try taking a local in with you to help with the language barrier.
